Catholic education in the parish began with the first Church which opened on
the 6
th
June, 1869. The following day the newly formed Sisters of St. Joseph
began teaching in the Church and this school which eventually evolved into
St Marys Memorial School. The Dominican Sisters assumed the responsibility
of this ministry in 1902. In 1954, Our Lady of Grace School was established
by the Dominican Sisters.

Today there are two Catholic Primary R-5 Schools in the Glenelg Parish.

Situated in the suburb of Glengowrie, Our Lady of Grace Parish School is one
of two R-5 primary schools in the Glenelg Parish within the South West
quarter of Adelaide. It has approximately 200 students and operates within

St Marys Memorial School is one of two R-5 primary Schools located within
