Scholarship
Any current or newly entering graduate library school student [M.L.S. or Ph.D.] may apply for these
scholarships. Must provide proof of enrollment to an accredited library school. Full-time status is not a
requirement.
The REFORMA Scholarship provides financial assistance to encourage and enable Latinos and/or
Spanish speakers to pursue or advance a career in Library and Information Science.

Scholarship
The E. J. Josey Scholarships are unrestricted grants of $2,000 awarded annually to African American
students enrolled in or accepted by ALA accredited programs.

APALA The Asian Pacific American Librarians Association Scholarship will provide financial assistance to a
student of Asian or Pacific background who is enrolled, or has been accepted into, a masters or

This is a 50% GA and
tuition-waived position that has
the primary responsibility of
assisting in the organization,
cataloging, circulation, promotion
and continued maintenance of
information resources in the
Career Resource Center and on
The Career Center website. The
graduate assistant will regularly
staff a drop-in advising and
reference service that provides
information on resumes, career
exploration, and employment
search strategies and assists
visitors in the Career Resource
Center. (Approximately 4-6 hours
per week)
When the position is announced, it
usually requires a resume, cover
letter, and 3 references. The
appointment is usually from August to
May. The announcement and hiring
for this position is usually done in
Spring. This position may be funded
through the federal work-study
program, which is a type of financial
aid. The successful candidate is
expected to complete a 2013-2014
FAFSA application which may be
accessed at www.fafsa.ed.gov to
determine eligibility for the federal
work-study program.
Although no SOC members currently hold this position,
2 GSLIS/SOC alum held this position in the 2011-12 and
the 2012-2013 AY. No library experience is necessary,
but ANY library experience will make you stand out.
Also, customer service is highly valued in this office, so
do not discount any experience where you worked
customer service (yes, your barista at that one coffee
shop is a valuable customer service experience! Flex
it!.). Only GSLIS students can apply, but students with at
least a year or more to complete in the GSLIS program
are preferred. If already on campus, it looks better if
you have used TCC for any service, including
preparation for the application for this position. For the
interview, be yourself with a touch of professionalism.
