1. Greg McNally founded a software company called DataClear that was growing. He was undecided about whether to expand internationally.
2. Greg struggled with decision making which allowed a rival company to take advantage while he was still deciding.
3. The best option was to risk expanding both globally and locally, as it provided the most opportunities for success while only one option led to total failure. This put the company at high risk but kept Greg directly responsible.

Daniel Alejandro Caballero Cerbn
1. Relevant facts: Make a quick overview of the situation it presents (kind of issues, persons involved, settings, problems), then read de case thoroughly to digest the facts and circumstances. Place this facts in a list. 1. Greg McNally founded a software company named DataClear 2. The company started growing and Susan Moskowski was hired as sales rep. 3. Susan alerted Greg about possible threats to the companies grow. 4. Greg is undecided whether or not expand his company internationally. 5. Greg held a meeting with his company about the options and advantages of going global 6. Greg asked his investor for guidance, who told him to trust in his own leadership. 7. Greag heard the opinions of his coworkers and stood between two options. 8. Greg travelled to Norway to speak with a potentian globalization ally. 9. Greg spoke with an old friend who didnt had a good experience with globalizing. 10. The rival company took advantage over Gregs while he still was undecided.
2. Problem definition: Make your diagnosis in one sentence. Greg did not show an assertive an effective decision making ability which resulted in a significant loss for his company.
3. Identification of symptoms, causes and effects (use the next table): Symptoms Causes Effects There is not a clear intention about the way the company should grow.
Poor decision making ability from Greg The rival company went ahead Gregs, which would affect the company growing.
4. Development and evaluation of alternatives:
Alternatives Advantages Disadvantages Is it Legal?
Yes of No Is it Equitable? Yes or No How would I feel with this decision? A1 Hire a new leader as CEO who has a better decision making ability.
Important decisions could be taken without so much waste of time and resources. Greg would no longer be de head of his own company. Yes No As greg I would feel replaced and maybe even betrayed because he has shown success in the past. A2 Leave the decision to Susan
She has already a good idea of what it needs to be done in order to grow globally and has previous experience. There is a chance the idea wouldnt work and Susan could not be responsible for it since she did what was expected from her. Yes Yes It may feel like a cowards move to let the decisions to a subordinate in order to avoid responsibility. A3 Risk it all and follow the investors idea of growing both globally and locally
The chances of success are bigger since there are four possible results and only one means total failure. There is a need of additional funding from the investor. Yes Yes I will feel like my lack of character leaded to putting my company in a high risk position.
5. Decision: Briefly comment about the Criteria you used in order to select this alternative.
I would choose the third alternative because it is the only one where I am directly responsible for the decision taken and I wouldnt feel like a prey from the destiny. Also it would mean no more lost time and as said before it can only turn out in four different results where only one is entirely detrimental. It can turn into: success in the local and global fields, success in one but not the other and total failure.
6. Action Plan: Use the next table to set your recommendations.

If he decided to go global, instate Susan as chief of the international affairs
After winning a stable position in the international market start widening their product options.
Because that way he could take a more informed decision in faster way.
Because she had already some experience in the matter and also shows more initiative and better decision capabilities.
Because first you need to be sure you have the market to sell a product before developing it. Using Statistical data from alike enterprises which is normally publically available.
Sending her to one of the branches abroad.
Starting in the origin land and then widening the international range of products with those who resulted successful in the local level. Greg
