This course provides an overview of PHIL 4200: Science, Technology and Society (STS). The course explores the connections between science, technology, and societal causes and effects from an interdisciplinary perspective. Topics to be discussed include the relationship between science and politics, whether technology improves lives or overwhelms us, and the goals of technological development. Assignments include a movie paper, reading quizzes, two in-class essay exams, and a final comprehensive exam. Attendance is mandatory and participation is important.
