Dear Middle School Parents,

It will be a busy week next week in the Middle School. On Monday and Tuesday
October 20 and 21 we will have our Parent Teacher Conferences from 1:00 - 6:00
p.m. There will be a shortened schedule in the morning with an early student
release at 12:00 p.m. There will be no afer school actvites, please make the
necessary arrangements for your child to be picked up on tme.

The PTC online reservaton system for making appointments will close on Sunday
October 19 at 3:00 p.m. Please make sure to bring a copy of your reserved ap-
pointments on the day of the conferences. If you have any questons in advance
or have had any difculty with the online system, please contact the Middle
School Ofce.

On Friday October 24 we will be celebratng Filipiniana our annual event at ISM to
celebrate the beautful country we all call home. The theme this year is Festvals
of the Philippines - masks and amazing colors always featured at festvals in the
Philippines which take place throughout the year. In the morning there will be a
shortened schedule followed by advisory. At 11:55 there will be a parade fol-
lowed by our Middle School Filipiniana assembly from 12:15 - 1:15 - there will be
performances by Middle and High School students. We will then take part in the
Barrio Fiesta in the Middle School courtyard. Students can purchase food tckets
and enjoy local food or they can also eat lunch in the canteen. For the last hour,
Middle School students will divide into their houses and take part in some actvi-
tes to learn more about the Philippines!

For Filipiniana, students can wear traditonal Filipino clothing or they can also pur-
chase a t-shirt from the Philippine Cultural Club next week during lunch tme for
500 pesos. Students can also choose to wear their house t-shirt on this day, or
their regular school uniform.

We hope everyone has a great week before the break, having conversatons with
teachers about student learning, and then ending the week with a celebraton of
the Philippines. School break will take place from October 27 with classes resum-
ing on Monday November 3

Beginning on September 13, diferent service opportunites will be
ofered on Saturdays. Some events involve a trip to visit a service partner
while others involve hostng a local educaton program. Along with the
joy of giving, students beneft by interactng with children from diferent
backgrounds and getng to know the Philippines beyond Makat and
Taguig. To partcipate, students simply pick up a permission slip from the
MS Ofce on the Monday before the trip. Once its been signed and re-
turned to the ofce, a student can sign up on the roster. Some trips fll up
quickly so encourage them to sign up early. Parent are welcome to
atend!

IASAS Volleyball/XC : ISM is hostng the IASAS Volleyball/Cross Country Championships this
week Oct 15-19. Thank you very much to all our host families for your support in housing the vis-
itng athletes! I hope that you can make it to the school sometme on Saturday morning for the
XC team tme trial races and to see some of the volleyball acton. Schedules for both events are
included in this bulletn.

The match schedule for volleyball tournament can be found under helpful shortcuts on ATAC
home page, as is the overall schedule for the XC event program. The soccer schedule from ISKL is
also available. ISM will be live streaming volleyball matches, go to www.iasas.asia to fnd the links
for our live stream

2nd season tryouts and season practce schedules are now posted to the ATAC blog and on no-
tce boards around school! 2nd season sports for MS/HS are; Basketball, Rugby, Touch, Tennis
and Swimming.

Check the ATAC game schedule page for the most updated matches mid week and on weekends!

Parents and students please take some tme to peruse the ATAC blog. It has a wide variety of in-
formaton and links to our sports and actvites program. If you have any questons regarding the
compettve program of sports at ISM afer reading the informaton on the blog, please send an
email to [email protected] and I will endeavor to assist you as best I can.

The ES/MS Rifa compettve soccer season has come to a close for this year with the fnal festval
and fnals last Saturday for qualifying teams. The ES soccer awards will be held October 21 at the
Litle Theatre from 2:153:00 P.M.

Bearcat Den: Drop by our fantastc spirit store. There is a range of new products and items to
purchase including items from our service partners. Bearcat Den hours of operaton-:7:00 A.M. -
4:00 P.M., MondayFriday.

The ATAC game schedule pdf which is updated regularly by Triz Gonzalez (ATAC Athletcs Coordi-
nator) gives the most up to date informaton on where/when and who our Bearcat teams will be
playing throughout the school year. Access to the game schedule is via the ISM parent portal.
Use this link to access the parent portal, log in with your user name/password and look for the
ATAC Game Schedule tab. Remember to refresh the page when the pdf schedule appears so you
view the most current schedule.
