Title: Situated at the top of the first page
this follows the codes and convention s
however it seems subordinate to the subheading due to the less dominant font and size so this may be confusing to the viewer. The appearance of it is the same as the contents title was on the contents page I believe that this demonstrates consistency and links up the whole magazine. The main image slightly obscures the bottom corner of the title; this is effective as it highlights the model as the news since he overlaps it. Subheading: A subheading gives the reader a clue to what the following article is about. This Subheading instantly stands out; its the first thing the audience would see. Evidently this is an important and exclusive story that the magazine want to highlight to the reader. The subheading appears below the main title which is an appropriate order which makes sense and is easy to follow for the viewer. Punctuation within the subheading helps to further emphasise and make this article a big deal as an exclamation mark is used here. The subheading itself is the name of a tour. Main Image: The main image takes up the whole page which immediately makes it stand out as the main image. It is a long shot however the subheading obscures the bottom half so that it appears as a medium shot. Using a medium shot here concentrates on his prop a guitar and unusual accessories the sailor like hat and his chain. The expression of the model is a happy one denoting he is enjoying himself and his sets a positive tone to the magazine. There is no direct address used here as the magazine feels that no pressure is needed for the reader or involvement as the supporting images offer that involvement for the reader already. Supplement Images: Four additional images are on this double spread. Three images are long shot images where the costumes, props and mise en scene is focused on and the bottom right corner one is medium shot where the Lemmy himself is the focus. Three of additional images show the band in action, performing a gig this makes the audience feel like theyre there. In all the images instruments are shown off in particular the guitar which appeals to readers who favour the guitar. Direct address isnt used in any of the pictures which challenge convention but enough interaction with the reader is emitted so isnt required in this case. The pictures are bordered so the image stands out Article: Layout: The order goes: title, main image, subheading, supplement images, article and more images. The article itself is positioned into a column structure whereby the text is separated into three columns. The rule of thirds is being applied to this page and so the codes and conventions are being met. The order of the features are appropriate and occur in a sensible order where the last element manifests to the next e.g. title before the subheading, and subheading before the article. Colour scheme: Red, black, white and yellow are still identified as the colour scheme through costumes and the text colours However, the more dominant colours of these pages are black and yellow and white as the whole background is black, the majority of the article is white and certain sentences are yellow. This can be because the main person of interest is wearing these colours and so the main colours have been manipulated to match him. Font: About 4 to 5 different fonts are used this is an appropriate amount whereby interest is created but isnt visually confusing. The article is injected with a bolder, larger font this creates a contrast and makes the article more interesting as opposed to rows and rows of text. The font is sophisticated and so reaches out to an older target audience. Article: The structure of the article is question and answer as this article is in the form of an interview. The language of the article at most times is informal and has a comical tone and the interviewer and the interviewee tend to joke around. I felt like a rocknroll pirate! this response is highlighted and centred in the middle of the article this is to show the reader the fun, relaxed tone of this article and persuade them to read the article if they havent already. The article contains strong language which denotes that the target audience is teenagers and above.
