325 Holy Hours were kept with Our Lord in Perpetual Adoration last week. Pope Francis on Eucharistic Adoration; "What I really prefer is adoration in the evening, even when I get distracted and think of other things, or even fall asleep praying. In the evening then, between seven and eight oclock, I stay in front of the Blessed Sacrament for an hour in adoration." Building on the Rock a 16 Week Study for High School Students to explore what it takes to build their house of faith on the Rock: Jesus Christ! St. Augustine Happenings PARISH DINNER: Join us today, October 26 for the parish PASTA DINNER to be held in the school cafeteria from 11:30-2:00 pm. Adults (12+) $6.00. Children 11-5 $3.50. Women of Faith: One of three components of our newly-formed Women of Faith group is SERVICE to the parish and community. In that regard, Fr. Majikas has asked us to consider a return to a long-time St. Augustine tradition the Shrove Tuesday Card Party. This will take place on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 the day before Ash Wednesday. Our Core Group is ready now to make plans and we need your help! It will take alot of ideas and volunteers to make this event a success so were looking for all parishioners to become involved from set-up/clean-up, food and drinks, ticket sales, raffles and door prizes. Our first meeting is set for Thursday, November 6 at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria. Please plan to attend or call Anne Sweeney at 330-825-6302 or Colleen McKenzie at 330-328-2684 to volunteer.
Cards Anyone? Join us Friday, November 7 as we play Euchre. Cards begin at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria. A light meal will be provided. Beginners and experienced players are welcome to come and try a hand. Come and enjoy an evening of fellowship.
HOLY LAND GIFTS will be at St. Augustine Church the weekend of November 15 & 16. There will be a display (in the school) of hand-carved items such as Nativity scenes, crucifixes, rosaries, the Last Supper and much more. Mark your calendars, all items are available for purchase and make wonderful gifts for loved ones. Start your shopping early this year! (Insert Graphic 2107-0218.tif) The Christmas Season is fast approaching with the Barberton Christmas Walk just around the corner on Saturday, November 29. Festivities once again will include performances by the Western Star Community Flute Choir and the St. Augustine Childrens Choir. Performances begin at 6:30pm in the Church. Chili, hot chocolate and cookies will be served on the rectory lawn throughout the evening. In order to make this event run smoothly, we are in need of volunteers to help spread the Christmas Cheer. This is a wonderful opportunity for eighth grade students to earn service hours while having fun at the same time. Attention Bakers.Start your ovens! With the many wonderful bakers we have in our parish.we are looking for a dozen or two of your favorite Christmas Cookies to pass out at the Christmas Walk.
