Render settings
Main settings

Progressive
Whichrenderenginewillbeused.Currently,onlythebucketandprogressiveenginesare
consideredproductionready,supportallofthefeatures,andperformoptimally.
Progressiveisthemostefficientoneandisthereforesetasdefault.
Bidir/VCMisanexperimentalengineatthispoint,beingabitsloweringeneral,but
alsobeingabletoresolvecomplexlightsituationssuchascausticsfasterthan
Progressiveengineandinanubiasedmanner.

GI/AAbalance
TheamountofGIsamplespereachAntiAliasingsample.
HighervalueswillincreasesamplingofGlobalIllumination,resultingincleanerindirect
lighting,glossyreflections,refractionsandtranslucency.Lowervalueswillincrease
samplingofAntiAliasingandthereforeimprovequalityoffinegeometryedges,Depthof
Field,andMotionBlur.
Settingthisvalueunder2orabove64isnotrecommended.

Lightsamplesmultiplier
TheamountofdirectlightssamplespereachGIsample.
Increasethisvalueinsceneswherethereisvisiblenoiseinthedirectlighting.Default
valueof2.0workswellinmostcases.

Maxsampleintensity
Theratiobetweenrenderingperformanceandphysicalaccuracy.
Loweringitwillresultinclampingofthereflectionandrefractioncausticsbrightness,
significantlyreducingnoiseattheexpenseofbias.Increasingthisvaluewillreduce
amountofclampingbutalsoincreaseamountofnoise.Defaultvalueof20workswellin
mostscenes.
Settingthisvalueto0enablesspecialunbiasedmodewherenoclampingwilloccur.This
modewillhoweveroftenintroducefirefliesthatmayneverconvergewhenusing
ProgressiveorBucketrenderengine.

Maxraydepth
Themaximumpossiblenumberoflightbounces.
Loweringthisvalueslightlyimprovesperformance,increasingitslightlyimproves
accuracy.ThechangeinCoronaishoweververysmallcomparedtootherrenderers,so
keepingthedefaultvalueisadvised.

Primarysolver
WhichGlobalIlluminationsolverwillbeusedforprimary(first)lightbounce.
NonedisablesGI,leavingonlydirectlighting.
PathTracingisanaccuratebruteforcesolution

Secondarysolver
WhichGlobalIlluminationsolverwillbeusedforsecondary(second,third,...)light
bounces.
NonedisablessecondaryGI,leavingonlyonebounceofGI.
Pathtracingisanaccuratebruteforcesolutionthatislessefficientinscenarios
withlotsofindirectbouncing(e.g.interiorscenes),orgenerallysceneswith
complicatedpathsbetweenlightsandtherenderedsurfaces.Thereforeitis
suggestedtousethissolvermostlyinexteriorsituations.
HDCacheisafast,interpolated,slightlylessaccuratesolution,thatworksbestin
sceneswithlotoflightbouncing.Thereforeitworksbestininteriorscenes.
HDcachemaybeinefficientinsceneswithcomplicatedgeometryand
noncomplexlighting,suchasgrassfields,exteriornature,...Bewarethatthe
currentimplementationofHDcacheispronetoanimationflickeringinsome
scenarios.

Screensize
Whenselected,displacementtessellationwillbeperformedadaptivelyinthescreen
space.
Thisisusuallyalotmoreefficient.Qualityvaluesetsthenumberofpixelseach
tesselatedtrianglespansintheimage.Lowervalueswillimprovedisplacementqualityat
expenseofmemoryusageandpreprocessingtime.

Worldsize
Whenselected,displacementtessellationwillbeperformedabsolutelyintheworld
space.
Thismethodisusuallyinefficientexceptforspecialcases(topreventpoppingartifactsin
animations).Qualityvaluesetsthesizeofeachtesselatedtriangleintheworldunits.
Lowervalueswillimprovedisplacementquality,attheexpenseofmemoryusageand
renderpreprocessingtime.Bewarethatsettingthisvaluetoolowandusingthismethod
onlargeobjectsmayconsumealltheavailablememoryandresultinacrash.

Maxsubdivperpolygon
Themaximumamountofdisplacementsubdivisionsperformedonasinglepolygon.You
canusethistolimitunnecessarilydensedisplacementsubdivisioninsomeareasand
thereforesavesometimeandmemory.

Exposure and color mapping

Exposure
Positivevaluesincreaseexposure,negativevaluesdecreaseit.

Highlightcompression
Thisoptioncompressesthehighlightsoftheoutputimagetoreduce/removeburnedout
areas.Defaultvalueof1.0meansoutputwillbecompletelylinear.Increasingthevalue
removesburnedoutareas,decreasingitamplifieshighlights.Bewarethatwhen
composingrenderelementstogether,outputmustbeLINEAR(1.0)togetthecorrect
result.

Contrast
Valuesgreaterthan1increaseimagecontrast.Bewarethatwhencomposingrender
elementstogether,outputmustbeLINEAR(1.0)togetthecorrectresult.

Whitebalance
SetsthewhitebalancepointusingKelvintemperaturescale.Oftenusedinphotography.

Colorchannelsoutput
MultipliesvalueofR,GorBchannels.Canbeusedtotweakcolorbalanceoftheoutput
image.

Precompdensity
Thenumberofprecomputationpassesperformedbeforetherendering.Increasingthis
valuecanmaketheprecomputationphaselonger,buttheresultingcachewillbemore
completeandcanspeeduptherenderinginthelongrun.

Recordquality
ThequalityofindividualHDcacherecords.Increasingthisvalueincreasesaccuracyof
theHDcacherecordsandcaneliminateflickeringinanimation,butmakesthe
precomputationlonger.
