Masterplanning Process

The document discusses integrated port masterplanning over the long, medium, and short term. A port masterplan typically has a horizon of 20 years and looks at national and regional considerations. Medium term planning is 3-5 years and involves a rolling masterplan. Short term planning covers a 1 year period. When developing a port masterplan, key considerations include nautical requirements, hydraulic requirements, quay and terminal dimensions, and hinterland connections, as well as technical, environmental, and legal factors. The planning process involves the port authority, government, and other stakeholders, and includes project initiation, feasibility studies, development of alternative layouts, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory approval processes. An example of this for the Port of Rot
