Silent Knight Radar

The AN/APQ-187 Silent Knight Radar is a terrain following and avoidance radar being developed for SOF aircraft. It consists of 6 line replaceable units in a single box weighing 162 pounds. The program aims to provide safe low-level flight capabilities to SOF crews through terrain mapping and weather detection. Developmental testing began in 2012 with low rate production planned for 2013 and full operational capability by 2015. Accomplishments so far include successful flight testing on MH-60M and MH-47G aircraft.
