RECRUITMENT NOTIFICATION
Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd., (KPCL) a Government of Karnataka Undertaking, established in the year
1970, is a premier specialist and professionally managed power generation company. It does Investigation,
Design, Construction, Operation & Maintenance of Hydro, Thermal, Wind & Solar Power Stations in and out of
Karnataka. KPCL has established Solar Energy Projects in the Districts of Kolar, Belgaum & Raichur. It has
also taken up a thermal power project to establish 1600 MW Pit Head Thermal Power Station in the State of
Chhattisgarh. Winner of several prestigious awards for high performance, it is in the forefront in providing
energy security to the State of Karnataka through optimum generation from existing plants and speedy
commissioning of new plants.

With an installed capacity of 6000 MW and ongoing projects of about 1000 MW and projects to be started of

2. Steps for Submitting application

ONLY ONLINE (THROUGH COMPUTER) APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED. NO

APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED THROUGH POST, PERSONAL DELIVERY, COURIER
OR ANY OTHER MODE.

a. Preparation before filling the online application form:

i. Download and print the entire notification along with application form (10 pages);

ii. Please read and fill up the application form manually (for your reference only);

iii. Purchase a Demand Draft (DD) for Rs.200/- (Rs.100/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of
“Karnataka Power Corporation Limited”, payable at Bangalore, as application fee. Enter the
DD details (DD Number, Date, Name of the Bank & Place) in the application. This DD shall be
handed over to the Invigilator at the time of written test;

iv. Before filling up the application online, keep ready all the certificates in support of age,
qualification & caste and also rural quota or Kannada Medium quota for claiming reservation.

v. Ensure availability of Printer to print the entire downloaded document.

b. Submission Online:
i. Keep your filled up application reference copy (reference: 2 a. ii) & enter the application form
Online.
ii. Upon submission of the application through Web/Internet an acknowledgement with an unique
application number along with the copy of details filled up by the applicant will appear on the
screen. The applicant shall take two printouts (copies) of the acknowledgement. He/she shall
paste his/her recent passport size photo (not older than six months) in both copies and
affix his/her signature on the space provided in the acknowledgement. Signing the
acknowledgement is tantamount to signing the application submitted through the web. The
acknowledgement (two copies) shall be handed over to the invigilator at the time of written
test along with DD.

NOTE: Incomplete Online application will neither be accepted nor registered by the computer
system.

c. Last date for submission of ‘online’ application: 20.01.2010 at 5.00 pm

 ii. Perquisites : Dearness Allowance, Remote Area Allowance, LTC to Home Town, Group Savings
Linked Insurance Scheme, Medical facilities, Pension [viz. superannuation pension, retiring pension,
invalid pension & family pension] & DCRG as per the rules of the Corporation. Total emoluments
currently at minimum of the scale is Rs.21547/- for Asst. Engineers and Rs.16,466/- for Junior
Engineers.

5. Probation/Minimum Service/Postings :

Selected candidate will be on probation for one year and has to execute an agreement to serve the
Corporation for a minimum period of Ten years including the period of probation. He/She will be
posted only in project areas. He / She shall give an undertaking that he/she will work in project areas
and shall not seek posting to Bangalore for a minimum period of ten years.

6. Selection procedure:

i. Written Test will be conducted at Bangalore.

ii. Eligible candidates will have to appear for Written Test in Technical subjects
(subject to passing Kannada Language Test referred in para 7 below) .

iii. Selection will be made based on the average marks obtained in the qualifying examination (50%)
and marks obtained in the written test (50%) duly following the reservation of posts notified.

iv. Selection list will be published in the Web Site : www.karnatakapower.com

7. Kannada Language Test:

Candidates who have not studied Kannada as one of the subjects in SSLC or equivalent
examination or where medium of instruction is not Kannada in SSLC or equivalent exam,
they have to pass a Kannada Language Test. The Kannada Language Test will be held
prior to the technical written test on the same day. Those who pass the Kannada
Language test are only eligible to appear for Technical Written Test.
8. Written Test (To be conducted at Bangalore)

A WRITTEN TEST OF TWO HOURS DURATION FOR 100 MARKS WILL BE

CONDUCTED TO TEST THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE CANDIDATES IN THE
RELEVANT TECHNICAL SUBJECTS. QUESTIONS WILL BE OBJECTIVE TYPE
WITH MULTIPLE CHOICE ANSWERS. THE CANDIDATES HAVE TO USE ONLY
BLACK BALL POINT PEN TO MARK ON THE OMR SHEET (OBJECTIVE MARK
RESPONSE SHEET)

i. Eligible candidates for attending the written test will be notified in the Web Site;

ii. Eligibility is determined as per the details furnished in the application. If, at any point of time or
at any stage of processing the recruitment or thereafter, it is found that the candidate has given
false information or the details given are found to be not true, he/she will not only be disqualified
for further stages of recruitment but also liable for appropriate legal action;

iii. If the number of applications received are large, the Corporation reserves its right to limit
the number of candidates to be considered for Written Test. Mere possession of the
qualification does not confer any right on the applicant to be called for Written Test;

 iv. The exact date, time & venue of the written test will be published in the Web Site;

v. Candidates shall bring the following documents at the time of attending the Written Test:-

a) Two printouts (copies) of the acknowledgement, with the recent passport size photo (not older
than six months) affixed & duly signed. One of the copies will be returned to the candidate;
b) Demand Draft (number & date as furnished in the on-line application);
c) Relevant Caste/Discharge Certificate in respect of SC/ST/Ex-Serviceman candidate;

The candidate who fails to produce the above documents will not be allowed to appear for the
Written Test.

9. Disqualification from Employment/General

i. Applications submitted by candidates other than Indian Citizens will not be considered;

ii. Incomplete applications will be rejected;

iii. Canvassing in any manner will be a disqualification;

iv. Candidates will be disqualified for furnishing incorrect information whether with or without
knowledge of the candidate

v. Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination but whose results are not likely to
be declared before the last date fixed for submitting applications need not apply;

vi. Interim enquiries on any matter connected with this recruitment will not be entertained;

vii. Any correspondence from KPCL to the candidates will be addressed to the correspondence
address given by the candidates in the application.

viii. KPCL reserves the right to cancel this recruitment in part or in full at any stage without assigning
any reason;

ix. Candidates are expected to know the criteria for claiming reservation under SC, ST, Categories -
I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB as well as norms for horizontal reservation under each quota prevailing in
Government of Karnataka as on the last date prescribed for submission of application.

10. General Instructions:

Candidates are required to produce the following relevant original documents/ testimonials/
certificates/ records etc., in support of their age, qualification, reservation etc., for verification only
when called for.

a) University Degree Certificate / Institute Certificate (for AMIE)/Diploma Certificate;

b) SSLC Marks card or the Marks card of equivalent qualification in support of age;

c) Marks cards of all examinations (all years / all semesters) of BE/AMIE/Diploma;

d) Caste certificate as prescribed in GO No. SWD 132 SAD 97(1) dated 8.2.2000;

e) Rural certificate as prescribed in the GOs No. DPAR 08 SRR 2001 dated 13.2.2001 and
GO No. DPAR 96 SRR 2005 dated 10.8.2005:

Candidates claiming reservation under rural quota should have studied from 1st to 10th
Standard in rural areas. The Rural Study Certificate should be in the format prescribed

 in GO as mentioned in (e) above, duly attested by the Head Master of the School and
countersigned by the concerned BEO.

f) Certificate for having studied in Kannada Medium from 1st standard to 10th standard as
prescribed in Govt. Notification No. DPAR 71 GPR 2001 dated 24.10.2002, where
claim is made for reservation under ‘Kannada Medium’ category.

g) Certificate as prescribed in Govt. Official Memorandum No.DPAR 115 SRR 2005

Bangalore dated 19.11.2005 where claim is made for reservation under Physically
Handicapped category, should possess a medical certificate issued by the competent
medical authority to show physical defect or deformity.

h) Discharge Certificate for having served in Military/Defence/Armed Forces in respect of Ex-

Serviceman candidate.

i) One copy of the acknowledgement with recent passport size photo (not older than six months)
affixed and duly signed.
