Acceptance Table

This document provides maximum discontinuity size criteria for various welding codes and standards including ASME, AWS, API, and B31. Crack indications of any size are unacceptable for some codes, while others allow indications up to 1/3 of the material thickness. Elongated indications like incomplete fusion cannot exceed material thickness divided by 3 or 2 inches in length depending on the code. Rounded indications like porosity are generally limited to 1/4 of material thickness or 3/8 inches. Tungsten inclusions and root concavity are evaluated similarly to porosity. Grouped indications cannot exceed material thickness within 12 times the thickness except if spaced more than 6 times the longest indication. Undercut and burn through cannot exceed 0.
