School Last Week

Cross Country
Following Minty Loxton-Barnards run at The Southern
Counties in Brighton on Saturday, she is now ranked
13th in Kent. We will hear on 7th February if she has
made the Kent team. Since her first run in Hythe three
weeks ago she has reduced her time by 59 seconds.
School This Week
Music on Monday
Music on Monday was provided by Safiyyah Abibu who
played the drums along to For You. Well done,
Safiyyah.
Mark Reading
The first marks of term have been given and the
standings are as follows:
1st Danes
3rd Saxons
2nd Romans
4th Vikings
Special mention goes to the following pupils who have
achieved the highest set of marks for their year:
Amelia Lawton, Harry Heming, Ella Yu, Nandita Gurung,
Fleur Rex, Heath Hutchings, Ivan Borovyk, Kevin Wu
and Paige Davidson.
LAMDA Success
There were a fine set of results from the latest set of
LAMDA exams. The Headmaster presented certificates
and all the entrants received a round of applause in
assembly.
Burns' Night Supper
The Scottish dancing rehearsals have gone well over
the last couple of weeks. We look forward to seeing

the practice being put to good use tomorrow night as

we celebrate Burns Night. All Tuesday evening
activities are cancelled as a consequence and day
pupils attending the event will be available to collect at
8pm. The day bus will run at the usual time for those
pupils not staying for the supper and dancing.
Boarders' Disco
Mr Collins will be in charge of the decks this week. We
hope many of the boarders will be staying in to enjoy
the fun. Weekly boarders staying in may be collected
after Chapel on Sunday.
Squash v Holmewood House
U13 Lost 1 4
U11 Won 3 2
As always this is a tough fixture, but it is good for the
children to see a standard they could aspire to.
In the U13, Billy had a tremendous match against their
number one seed, beating him, in a long match, 3- 2.
The others did their best, but lacked depth and finesse.
This is something they will have to work on in
preparation for the IAPS tournament at the end of
March.
The U11s had a good outing. Cyrus and Ed played well,
but couldnt quite squeeze a win, although their
matches were close. Tom and Freddie played really
well, both winning in the 5th game and feeling
rightfully elated. Islay was too strong for her opponent,
whom she beat quite comfortably, and then went on
to win against one of the U13s in a separate match.
U13: Billy Miles (Capt), Benny Smallwood, Ed Roberts,
Angus Stainton & Pablo Sanchez-Carrillo
U11: Islay Thornicroft, Freddie Bond, Tom Burge, Ed
Norton & Cyrus Moreland.
Sainsbury Vouchers
We are again collecting Sainsburys Active Kids
Vouchers. Please collect as many as you can and hand
them into your form tutors, direct to Mrs Healy, or
post them in the special collecting box by the office.
The vouchers are available from 28th Jan to 5th May.
Thank you.
Friends of Wellesley
At the AGM on Friday, Mrs Laura Plumptre stood down
as chair of the committee. Over the last three years,
Mrs Plumptre has overseen a host of memorable
events which have raised phenomenal amounts for
school projects. We are extremely grateful for all the
hard work and dedication invested so cheerfully by Mrs
Plumptre and, indeed, all the committee members.
Mrs Serena Courage takes over the chair and her first
event will be the Wellesley Quiz on Saturday 21st
March 2015.
This week the kitchen will be serving menu 1.
