2 Inventory
Storage for raw material is separated into two part. The first part is the storage
for the plastic ore and the second one is for the other component such as activated carbon and
ceramic microfiltration. The activated carbon and ceramic microfiltration must be kept in the
dry, cool, and well ventilated. The plastic ore storage should be far from the heat source and
direct sunlight. There are three types of inventory, namely :
1. Cycle Inventory
Cycle inventory is the number of inventory to meet the demand in the period between
the purchase of the product. In the other words, the inventory cycle is same as regular
production capacity, which is 50 unit of water purifier per day.
2. Safety Inventory
Safety inventory is the type of inventory which is stored as a buffer against uncertain
demand. For the safety inventory, raw material which is ordered for the first time is
10% more than the usual amount which is ordered.
3. Seasonal Inventory
Seasonal inventory is stored inventory in anticipation of increased demand at any
given time. In this case, the increasing demand of water purifier may happen when
the rainy season is coming. This seasonal inventory may be fulfilled by the product
which is made by the rest of raw material needed to fulfill the cycle inventory and
safety inventory. The rest amount of raw material can be seen in the table below.
