Acknowledgement

I would like to mention a few people who have contributed in various ways to this
thesis.
Firstly, I would like to thank to my supervisor, Dr. Shiv Singh, for his unfailing help,
advice and encouragement during an extended and sometimes erratic period of study.
Successful completion of my Ph.D. thesis is a linear combination of the masterful
guidance from my supervisor, support of the college and my friends and continuing
wishes from my family persons and relatives.
I would like to express my gratitude to my family members, in particular my motherin-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law for their understanding, encouragement and
support. I would also like to express my great thanks to my husband Mr. Manish
Kumar Chauhan, without his co-operation I could not even think of doing work.
The presentation of this thesis would not be possible without the help of Dr. Pradeep
Kumar (Young Scientist, DST, New Delhi) in computer programming and typing the
script. I am very grateful to his for his careful work.
Lastly, I would like to thank again my supervisor for introducing me to the research
