Name of Film: The Pretenders

Summary of film:
Two teenage half Brothers have moved house and have started a new school and a new life.
However they use it as a chance to get popular but all the lies one of them says to get in with the
cool kids come back to haunt them and it is up to his geeky brother to sort it out.
When asking our focus group what they thought of our narrative for the film the majority said they
liked the idea of having the element of relatives in the same class as it puts a new unique
perspective on the teen school comedy genre however that we will have to be careful that we dont
end up being exactly the same as every other film from are genre and end up using similar jokes
Characters:
Mum:
Age: 45
Description:
Dictating and scary can be very weird at times wont tell sons why they have moved (Boys suspect it
has something to do with their recently deceased farther getting hit by a post office van.) The mum
will play the villain of Vladimir Propps theory by punishing the two boys for little or no reason and
could be the antagonist to the problems the two boys get into.

George:
Age: 16
Description:
The adopted brother of jerry and very intelligent. Often falls out with his step-brother. Likes the
Discovery channel (main reason there is a fight when the football is on). Cant read peoples
emotions and is very awkward. Always says the wrong things to the wrong people. Finds it hard to lie
and can never keep a secret. He always finds the most random things funny. He will end up the
victim of the lies told by jerry which will cause him to become the hero and sort all the problems
caused out.
Outfit:
When at sixth form wears smarts suits and shoes and always well presented.
When at home wears exactly the same clothes as he feels very proud of himself when smart

Jerry:
Age: 16
Description:
The idiotic brother of the two. Cares more about his reputation than his education. Massive Spurs
fan. Says everything as it is and doesnt care if people dont like what he says. Likes to get into fights
with people he hates. Highly unintelligent and say stupid remarks. Hates other people beating up his
brother as that is his job as he always points out to the attackers.
Outfit:
Scruffy clothes, wears football scarf and other clothes associated in order to show support at
home and when out if his favourite team is playing.
When at school he always looks smarter although is still very scruffy looking compared to
George. Believes this is more attracting looking to girls as they like rebels.

1. The new home: This is where the film will start before the opening credits. The
house will look decorated. There will be a lot of cluttering of ornaments and boxes in
the scene to give of the impression that the family has only just moved in recently.

2. School: The school will look average with a hectic crowed of kids from all ages
moving about arguing and basically causing a havoc by doing stupid things
immediately telling the audience that the genre for the film is a comedy.

hand gesture to show he agrees) but you
George Im just speechless I thought you
wouldnt have even discovered it yet Im very
ashamed
J: its terrible isnt it mum
M: just shut up jerry and go to your room
J: But muuum the football
M: Ill tell you the score when the games over
M: you go to your room to George
G: Mum thats unfair me and jerry werent
having a wonk

We then see a close up of George trying to

make up an excuse to the mums question
when she asks:

M: So why was the TV on and adult

channel then?
G: Well
The mum then loses it and shouts:
M: I dont want to hear another one of
your elaborate excuses now go to your
room

Fade into the Title Of film which we

changed from original as many of our focus
group thought that this one was more
suitable as it connoted the narrative of our
film better as Jerry gets both him and
George into bad situations as he sees
school as his own personal game he can use
to climb up the social ladder.

We get a shot of the school and then

see jerry and George

J: nope
G: Dont worry; Im sure there will be
plenty of knobs like you that you can
make friends with

M: Mum
J: Jerry
G: George
We see the logo of the production company followed by an establishing shot of George
watching the Discovery channel music of (keyboard cat starts as well as credits)
We then hear jerry burst through the door chanting.
J: We r Tottenham super Tottenham super tot...
J: What r u fucking doing George
G: Im watching the discovery channel whats wrong with that?
J: no youre not
G: well clearly
J: gives me da thing so I can watch match of the day
G: what thing?
(Credits stop)
J: you know what I mean now just give it to me

Jerry leaps for the TV remote. This results in them accidently putting in the channel number
for an adult channel at this point mum walks in and absolutely loses it.
M: what the hell are you boys doing you are too young to be watching these types of
channel s Im very disappointed. Especially with you George. It was inevitable that jerry
would watch porn and that I would catch him (jerry does a hand gesture to show he agrees)

J: its terrible isnt it mum

For our music we decided to use Keyboard cat as.it is a light hearted chirpy tune that accompanies a
funny video on YouTube and so by using this well-known tune many will be able to associate the film
as a comedy. Through research we found out that the tune was made available by its creator

We originally made two logos and asked our focus group which one they liked

Looked professional however it didnt connote
our genre very well.
