Acceptable Use Policy Student
Acceptable Use Policy Student
Green Hedges School (GHS) is pleased to offer students access to a network of resources, to
include email, the internet, and shared cloud storage. To gain access to email and the Internet,
all students and parents must obtain parental permission and sign The Acceptable Use
Agreement. Students in Grades 4 through 8 will participate in our one to one iPad program and
will also require accounts with Apple called AppleIDs. Please see
Addendum I
for further
details.
Access to GHSs state of the art equipment is a privilege and is dependent on the students
display of responsible behavior. Respect for equipment, respect for others work, as well as
students safety, are of absolute necessity. Students who willfully violate the schools guidelines
will lose privileges and in some cases may be suspended or expelled. To ensure that students
benefit from schools tech resources, all users are expected to abide by the following
guidelines.
Green Hedges School owns of all school systems, software, and email addresses.
Content created with the schools technology tools and saved on the schools network
are property of GHS.
GHS has systems in place to filter and regulate content over the schools network,
however the school does not have complete control over information presented on the
Internet or incoming email on other outside networks. (ex. your house, Starbucks, public
library)
The potential harm or damage, privacy, or security breaches caused by Internet activity,
cannot be guaranteed by GHS. It is understood that Internet activity conducted by a
user could be made publicly available.
Students are responsible for the care and safekeeping of any iPads for 1:1 program
assigned to them. Damages that take place after the first reported incident recorded,
will be the financial responsibility of the student and/or parent/guardian. ($80, which is
apple charges) Loss, including theft will be the sole financial obligation of the student
and/or parent/guardian. ($499 replacement cost). Incidents must be reported to the
Technology Department at GHS.
Passwords must be kept private. (Students are not allowed to use another persons login
information to gain access.)
Use of storage space and printing must be kept to a reasonable amount as these
resources are costly to the school and a shared resource for all students.
The work or files of others is private and confidential.
Communication must be respectful at all times. Students must adhere to GHSs mission,
philosophy, and core values whenever and wherever they use the schools technology
resources.
Students are held responsible for their communications to fellow students, teachers,
and/or others of the community regardless of whether they are on campus or away
from campus.
Students are held responsible for their actions on social networking sites, texts, blogs,
e-mail, or instant messaging. Vulgar, profane, obscene or threatening language will not
be tolerated on any GHS device or network.
Teachers and the Technology Department must be notified immediately if a student
encounters material that violates the rules for appropriate use.
Expectation of Privacy:
GHS reserves the right to search without warning any electronic devices used on
campus. Students should have no expectation of privacy when using the schools
resources or network.
I have read this document and fully understand its terms and my obligations. I understand that
this document is contractual in nature and my signature below indicated my agreement with
the policy as described above.
