SUMMARY
The National Council of La Raza (NCLR)the largest national Hispanic civil rights and
advocacy organization in the United Statesworks to improve opportunities for Hispanic
Americans. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations, NCLR
reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.
To achieve its mission, NCLR conducts applied research, policy analysis, and advocacy,
providing a Latino perspective in five key areasassets/investments, civil rights/immigration,
education, employment and economic status, and health. In addition, it provides capacitybuilding assistance to its Affiliates who work at the state and local level to advance opportunities
for individuals and families.
Founded in 1968, NCLR is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization
headquartered in Washington, DC, serving all Hispanic subgroups in all regions of the country. It
has state and regional offices in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Phoenix, and San
Antonio.
BACKGROUND
NCLRs Housing and Community Development component seeks an Events and Operations
Training Coordinator to manage the logistics of the NCLR Homeownership Network Learning
Alliance (NHNLA) Housing Counseling Training and Certification Program. NHNLA was
created to deliver training to housing counseling agencies nationwide in an effort to increase the
availability of practitioner-level expertise to its counselors.
This position reports to the Vice President of Housing and Community Development (HCD),
located in Washington, DC, and the Director of the NCLR Homeownership Network, located in

Phoenix, AZ.
RESPONSIBILTIES

Manage the day-to-day activities of the NHNLA and e-learning program


Coordinate submission of registration applications, including determining eligibility and
contacting the appropriate individuals.
Assist NHNLA fundraising efforts through grant writing for federal and private sector
funding, as directed by the Vice President of HCD.
Maintain the content and information of the programs website.
Communicate with relevant staff regarding the progress of course enrollment and
recommendations for needed actions.
Monitor incoming inquiries by phone, email, or otherwise, regarding general training
information.
Manage testing site for individuals completing exams.
Attend trainings and manage registration of attendees and onsite logistics.
Participate in outreach strategy discussions to increase attendance in training sessions.
Develop relationships with various entities to promote training activities and inform on
potential opportunities to expand training.
Navigate a variety of internal technologies to execute the training program.
Work with community organizations to understand training needs and current capacity to
deliver service.
Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

BA required
Strong oral and written communications skills
Must be able to develop work plans, set deadlines, work well with minimal supervision,
and have the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize among assignments
Ability to work well in a team environment and independently
Familiarity with government entities (federal, state, local) involved with developing and
implementing housing and community development programs preferred
In-depth understanding of online technology and other computer applications such as
Excel, Macromedia, and other Microsoft Office programs; must have the ability to learn
new computer software quickly; ability to write HTML a plus
Knowledge of how to utilize online education platforms such as Blackboard or Canvas a
plus
Experience with community-based programs, especially those involving case
management and close contact with clients strongly preferred; experience providing
housing counseling, education, or other asset-building programs a plus
Experience in customer service a plus
Demonstrated capacity to collect reporting data, analyze, and interpret the results
Cultural awareness, demonstrated commitment, and involvement with Latino community

Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus


Flexible in regards to schedule, working hours, travel (approximately 30%)
