Our 5th year of the AFS Birmingham Chapter traveling meeting

in Anniston was a success with 52 members attending. We appreciate all of the local attendees that made it out to The Matterhorn
and of course the Birmingham area regulars that made the trip.
Mr. Ted Schorn gave a thorough presentation on quality cultures
and safety cultures. Ted gave us ideas as to how important embracing a culture to affect change in employees behaviors can improve a metal casting companys overall performance. In talking
with several people after the meeting, I believe that everyone
there took something away that could be applied in their own
company and personal life. This was our first time at The Matterhorn and the owner personally supervised the event to ensure
everyones satisfaction. The 14.0 oz USDA Rib-eye was incredible
and the cheesecake was delicious.
Our next meeting will be October 11th at our regular meeting
place, the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover at the Galleria. Our speaker
will be Mr. Doug Grimm, who is the Chairman, President and CEO
of Grede Holdings, LLC. Mr. Grimm will reflect on his experience
with the merger of Citation and Grede, and share his industry outlook and how it will affect The New Grede.
For those of you in the Anniston area who do not regularly attend
Birmingham meetings, I would hope that you received value from
the September meeting and plan to attend some of our meetings
that are just a short drive away. As always, we ask that everyone
please call in or register online at www.afsbirmingham.org so we
can get a good headcount for making meeting arrangements. And
dont forget to visit the new and improved website often. The
website gurus have been working hard and now have the photo
galleries on the site, including the latest golf outing and Anniston
meeting.
