Electrocardiograph: Instructor's Portion

This document provides instructions for a lab experiment where students will build an electrocardiograph (ECG) and measure heart rate from collected ECG signals using LabVIEW. Students will construct an ECG amplifier circuit based on previous instrumentation amplifier and filter projects. They will develop a LabVIEW VI to acquire ECG data and detect the R-R interval to calculate heart rate. The lab procedure provides steps for building the ECG circuit and acquiring/analyzing ECG signals. Students must submit a lab report and a sub-VI for heart rate measurement.

Theory
The basic ECG amplifier consists of two components. The first component
is the instrumentation amplifier with typical gain of 1000 (60dB). The
second component is the band-pass filter. The low cutoff frequency is
around 0.5Hz to minimize the baseline shift. The high cutoff frequency is
around 100Hz for antialiasing purpose.
