Congratulations also to Amelie Marshall who gained 2nd place at the Wirral Festival of Speech and
Drama and Lucy Naylor for achieving a distinction in her Grade 1 Piano exam.
Thanks to Miss Kelly for all her help in the Wrens class and around school. We wish her well when she
takes up her new teaching post after Easter.
School Choir
It was lovely to hear the school choir sing at the family service at St Oswalds Backford church. Once
again they gave us good reason to be proud of them and the school. My thanks go to all the parents
who brought their children along on a Sunday morning.
Red Nose Day Update
This was a great event and we are pleased to say that the final total for Red Nose Day was 358.92.
This included 30 raised by Emily Holroyd baking cakes to be sold at Dads work, and 43.60 raised by
Elizabeth Gray doing a sponsored silence. Well done girls and thanks to everybody who took part and
helped on the day.
Easter Bingo
Please note the date and time for this has been changed to Wednesday 1 April at 6pm. More details to
follow from the PTA but please come along and support this family event.
Hopefully you will be aware that the school was shortlisted for the Active Cheshire Sports School of
the Year Award. This was great recognition of our commitment to the inclusion of all children in a wide
range of sports. Last Friday Mr Timms and Mr Wallace attended the awards dinner at the Double Tree
Hilton in Hoole and were accompanied for the first part of the evening by the St Oswalds Sports
Ambassadors who greeted guests as they arrived on the red carpet As always they were a credit to
the school. Sadly we didnt win the award, but as we know in sport, and in life, you cant always win.
We recognise that it was a great achievement to get on the shortlist and would like to thank all the
support we had to get to this stage. Picture are our sports ambassadors with Mr Timms, Mr Wallace
and representatives from Active Cheshire.
Parents Evening
Dont forget to sign up for your parents evening appointment on Monday 23 or Wednesday 25 March if
you havent already done so. Parents evening will follow the same format as last time with all the
childrens trays being in the school hall and individual appointments in the classroom. As last time
teachers will be using their ipads to try and stay on time and avoid long waits for parents. Feedback
from the parents I spoke to about this last time was very positive.
World Down Syndrome Day
The Children were shown a very inspirational Video during assembly for Dress Down for Down
Syndrome Day. If you would like to donate you are able to do so through
