dealing with their current situation. She present two different situation where Darrin a high
school junior chooses to take a gap year before college to explore the world and Beth who is a
high school senior is not happy with her cousins decision simply because she doesnt understand
the real purpose of a gap year. Where Darrin successfully fulfills his plan and goes back to
college, Beth ends up taking a gap year as well but with no plan and fail to achieve success as
her cousin. This show that how important it is to fully understand its purpose and meaning and
that we should all be well informed about this idea and pros and cons of its outcome. I will use
this as one of the source on my mapping the issue paper as an opponent showing the example of
Beth on how the idea of a gap year might back fire if one fully doesnt understand its purpose.

students with grants to encourage them while they are on gap. This can be very useful to defend
my claim on my research position paper against my opponents. I will use the colleges that are

to give people valuable information, tips and suggestion in ways of improving their ability and
potential. It is popular among the college students and some high school graduates because it
mainly focuses on the lifestyle and career development of a college students. Since the article
was published in 2007 we can say that this issue of acceptance of a gap year inside American
homes has been a bit of a struggle even after coming all this way till 2014.
This article addresses different examples of people and their choices of taking a gap year. It goes
into a small part of Andreas life and gives us insight on how she choose to take a job in Mexico
and how taking this gap year and working in another country gave her confidence, made her
realize of her potential and mostly importantly gave her a clear picture of real life and made
capable enough to choose the right path for her career when she came back to college. My plan is
to use this information presented here as an example of a positive outcome of a gap year. I will
use this information as my ally on mapping the issue to show that vital role of gap year in a
persons life.
