Missions Outreach

Can You Give 2-3 Hours Per Month?

Four United Methodist congregations of Columbia take turns

sorting and packing clothing and other mission resources
for the Container Project. They work in the PET warehouse,
1908 Heriford Rd. MUMC is responsible for the 4th week of
the month. Volunteers (usually 2 or 3 or more work together)
choose a time that fits their schedule and work for 2-3 hours.
LaVonne Patterson (573-239-3158 or [email protected]) maintains the list of volunteers and sends a reminder email of our
monthly dates. Contact her to sign up.

School Days!

Its that time of the year again, and many children in the 105
rural villages served by Rainbow Network in Nicaragua have
no school supplies: no paper, no pencils, no pens,. none of
the items we take for granted. They need spiral notebooks,
pencils, pens, rulers, blunt end scissors, white glue, construction paper, white copy machine paper, pencil sharpeners,
crayons. Quantity purchases get better prices. School kits are
excellent (see Festival of Sharing components). Your gift
can give a child a future with hope! School supplies may be
delivered to the PET warehouse, 1908 Heriford Rd., or make a
check to MUMC and designate Container Project/school.

Scholarships Transform Lives

Rainbow Network serves in 105 rural villages in Nicaragua. In

some of the villages RN has helped establish schools because
there were none. In others, they assist with school supplies,
noon time meals, and teacher support. None of these villages
have a high school; so RN provides scholarships for students
to travel to larger towns/cities to attend high school and college. Currently they are supporting about 1000 students; 137
graduated from high school in December! Education opens
doors and transforms lives. You can help! $30 per month
enables a student to attend high school; $40 per month for a
college student. For more information go to www.rainbownetwork.com or contact Megan Munzlinger, mmunzlinger@
redarcoiris.net.
