Sealing of Lock Covers on
the MACALLOY 460/520
System
2. The joint should be made up and installed as normal except that the inside of the lock cover should be
cleaned, and prior to threading the lock cover back to the fitting, any grease should be removed from the
bar, using Loctite 7063 or a similar proprietary cleaner.
3. With the lock cover in place the open end of the lock cover should be taped over. It is recommended
that this is done using a PTFE tape which is then overlaid with a stiffer tape. The sealant is then injected
into the hole in the side of the lock cover, using a skeleton gun, until the void is completely filled.
Note: All standard lock covers are supplied with injection holes.
4. The tape should be removed immediately from the end of the lock cover (or shortly after applying the
sealant.)
5. Any excess sealant should be removed from the end of the lock cover and around the injection hole, and
the sealant tooled to produce a fillet.
6. The sealant should be left to cure and if necessary any further tidying up can then be carried out.
Note: A safety and data sheet should be supplied with the sealant. This should be read before use
and be complied with.

APPENDIX B
TEROSTAT DATA SHEET
Terostat-MS 939 is a gun-grade, one component
adhesive/sealant based on silane-modified polymer,
which cures by reaction with moisture to an elastic
product. The skin formation and curing times are
dependent on humidity and temperature, and the
curing time also depends on joint depth. By
increasing the temperature and the moisture, these
times can be reduced; low temperature as well as
low moisture retards the process.
Adhesion
Good adhesion to sheet metal (in degreased raw, phosphated, electro-galvanised and hot-dip galvanised,
chromium treated or top-coat painted condition); stainless steel, brass, aluminium (untreated, anodised or
painted); glass; PA, PVC, PUR-RIM; polyester, EPDM, most thermoplastic blends (trials recommended).
Application
Prior to application it is necessary to read the Safety data sheet for information about precautionary
measures and safety recommendations. The substrates must be clean, dry, oil and grease free. For
cleaning, cleaner A, cleaner-D, cleaner-FL from Teroson are suitable.
Application from 570ml plastic wallets is made with corresponding FK-Hand or FK-Air pressure pistols. In
the case of compressed air application a pressure of 2-5bar is required. Low material temperatures of the

sealant will lead to an increase of viscosity, resulting in a lower extrusion rate. This can be avoided by bring
the sealant up to room temperature prior to application. If substrates are too cold, temperature may fall
below dew point causing condensation. This can be avoided by bringing the substrates up to room
temperature in time.
After application, Terostat-MS 939 can be smoothed with soapy water. Where joint edges have been
masked, the surface can be smoothed by using a spatula. Equipment contaminated with uncured TerostatMS 939 may be cleaned using cleaner D.
Painting properties
When using metallic coatings Terostat-MS 939 must be overpainted wet on wet for optimum adhesion. In
the case of uni-paints a time limit before painting up to three days after sealant application is possible.
These data are valid for 2K-Acrylic paints. With Alkyd systems drying can slow down (trials are
recommended). Curing is slightly retarded by the paint layer but not hindered.

BONDLOC MS58 DATA SHEET
Product Description
Bondloc MS58 is a single component, high modulus, moisture curing polyurethane adhesive/ sealant.
Typical uses
Bondloc MS58 is a high quality adhesive/sealant suitable for making permanent elastic seals of high
strength. Bondloc MS58 offers excellent primerless adhesion to most common materials such as anodised
aluminium, wood, concrete, stone, among others.
Benefits
- Does not contain isocyanate
- High elasticity
- Clean
- Bonds well to wide variety of substrates
- High Modulus
- Good weathering
- Low odour
Methods of application
Manual application:
- Ensure surfaces/joints to be bonded and/ or sealed are clean and free from grease, dust and any
other contamination.
- For best results clean with Bondloc cleaner
- Where applicable prefill joints with a cross-linked polyethylene foam to give the required joint depth.
- For maximum bond strength prime surfaces with Bondloc universal primer.
- Pierce metal seal on the tip of the cartridge and screw on nozzle.
- Cut nozzle to desired size, cutting at an angle of 45o.
- Insert cartridge into gun and press out the metal seal at the base of the cartridge.
- Apply the material at the desired rate.
- Smooth the surface of the joint with a spatula or similar tool dipped in water that contains a little
detergent.
- Allow to cure.
Automatic application
- Bondloc MS58 can be applied via semi and fully automatic machinery. Please contact our technical
department for further details.
