This case was initiated through the Office of Consumer Protection Investigator T. Lawson. The homeowner, Mr. Stuart Crampton, stated that they had purchased this home in March 2011. He further states that they had experienced several issues with the home. My findings are as follows: 1. 12DCMR105.1 _Failure to apply and obtain proper building permit for interior and exterior structural work and changes to structure. At the time of my inspection all sheetrock has been placed with limited access holes provided by the homeowner. During my initial visit to the home the homeowner stated that he had had an outside agency provide testing for some of the previous existing flooring found in the basement area. This is a typical adhesively applied tile which appears to be partially removed. | explained to the homeowner that this was not an uncommon practice for this type of flooring to be covered as part of the renovation process. Mr. Crampton stated that the third party testing agency had confirmed asbestos particulates in the flooring materials. Also, Mr. Crampton was able to provide photographs of the previous rear deck area of the home. It is clear thatan old masonry supported structure has been removed and replaced by a larger rear deck. This report has been amended to show a revision of code violations found present during a subsequent site visit on 10/29/2014 after all sheetrock had been removed.
