Job Description
The Senior Software Engineer should have elaborated design, coding and delivery experience of
multi-tier SaaS products with web-based, plugin-based clients on the Java, Microsoft/Oracle
technology stack. Experience building system modules and testing for 24/7 stability, performance
and scalability.
The Senior Software Engineer is able to design, build and test high quality complex modules as well
as their unit test harnesses. Can diagnose and resolve complex issues. Experience leveraging
continuous build and automated unit test frameworks. Experience delivering high quality products
on time while working in Agile Teams and following Agile Methodologies. 2+ years as a senior
software development engineer with similar roles / responsibilities. This person reports to the
Product Development Team Lead.
Your responsibilities:

Design, build and test high quality Java modules, implementing the vision of the product
owner, as part of a cross functional Agile development team

Execute the quality procedures on SW development and deliver high quality components
with regards to SW layout, performance, output and usability.

Play an advisory role in the creation of software designs

Perform follow-up on validation test for the developed software

Maintain/adapt SW documentation and artefacts.

Qualifications and Skill Set


Essential:

At least 4 year experience in software development, preferably in (Agile) software teams


(>5 persons)

In depth experience with Java

In-depth knowledge of the JVM, J2EE stack, etc.

Experience with ORM such as Hibernate (JPA),

Experience with delivering high quality software, on time, in an Agile context

Able to design, build and test high quality modules as well as their unit test harnesses

Ability to perform peer and formal Code reviews

Good understanding of Object Oriented Concepts and Software Design patterns

Comfortable in explaining and defending his/her ideas, while still able to recognize the
merits of others opinions.

Fluent in English, both written & spoken.

Database modelling and hand-on experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server

Hands-on experience with major web/application servers (Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere,


GlassFish)

Desirable:

Test Driven or Behaviour driven development experience

Experience with Agile and pragmatic programming principles.

Personality / Personal traits

Analytical problem-solver with keen attention to detail

Excellent communicator (written and oral) with excellent interpersonal skills

Responsible, methodical and organised

Assertive, being able to make expert decisions based on personal judgement.

Team player, flexible and open to change

Quick to learn and put data to productive use

Excellent coder.
