Success Track Principles

This document outlines 5 principles for staying "on track" and achieving success in network marketing: 1. Use all of the company's products personally and stay on autoship to remain qualified for bonuses and have products available to share knowledgeably with others. 2. Follow the proven system and duplication model rather than trying to reinvent it, as duplication is key to residual income and growth. 3. Attend all company events to learn, increase belief, associate with others, and support the efforts of those bringing guests. Live meetings are important for building relationships. 4. Continually learn about the network marketing profession through recommended books and resources, as it differs from traditional business models, and be coachable.

Success Track Principles: Stay On Track!

To become an effective and successful

Network Marketing professional, youll
need to do ALL the things that currently
successful Network Marketers do.
Sounds like a simple concept, doesnt it?
Yet many people who start in the
business feel that they are somehow
exceptions to one principle or another.
They feel that they can skip one or two .
. . or five, and still succeed. One word:
WRONG. Talk to successful network
marketers and survey them on what
made them successful and you will notice a pattern emerge: Theyll have a central group of
principles that they follow, personal qualities theyll have developed, and activities which theyll
pursue . . . UNIVERSALY. That is WHY they are successful. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Success leaves clues. If all the successful people in our industry are doing these things, and you
want success also, it would follow that you should do them too! Succeeding in network
marketing is not a mysterious, nebulous thing. Its not luck. Its not lightning striking. Its simply
remaining coachable and consistently doing the same effective and successful things others
have done before you.
As you develop your own team, make sure that you create a culture in which all members of
your team know the importance of following these success principles to stay on track. These
principles should become a matter of course and standard practice in your organization. As
your group grows, it will become increasingly important to prioritize your time and decide with
whom you will work. Give priority to the members of your team who are, like you, committed
to and following all these essential principles and qualities: SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

1. USE THE PRODUCTS. ALL of them. There is an old

saying in Network Marketing: Be a product of the
products. Old sayings usually become old sayings because
they teach a true principle. Network marketers are not
salespeople who convince, manipulate or pressure people
into buying products. They are educators who share a product and an opportunity about
which they feel passionate and which have blessed their lives. How can you feel

passionate about something you dont personally use? Would it make sense to go to
your contacts and say, I think you should use this product. I dont personally use it, but
I think YOU should?! Of course, that would be preposterous. So dont do it! SSSSSSSSSS
Staying on track means that if MXI has a product, you ALWAYS choose to use that
product instead of a competing one. Buying product from another supplier takes money
out of your business and puts it into someone elses. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Stay on autoship. By doing so, you remain qualified for bonuses, and youll receive free
product every third shipment for your whole first year. That way youll stay on track
and have enough product on hand so you never run out of product or have to buy a
competing one. Youve got to use the products to be able to talk knowledgeably and
enthusiastically about the products to effectively build your business.

2. FOLLOW THE SYSTEM. This is a business about

duplication: getting the new people in your business to
know what you know and do what you do . . . quickly.
Systems allow that. The new members of your team will
typically have a high level of anxiety and a low level of
knowledge. A simple system which everyone can follow
is the great equalizer. It wont matter the level of your
education, experience, knowledge or the amount of your talent or lack thereof . . . as
long as you can follow and teach the system. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Sometimes people are tempted to think they know better, or can improve the system.
Dont make the mistake of trying to reinvent the wheel. Its important that you
understand that this is not a business about what YOU can do but about what you can
DUPLICATE. Anyone must be able to do what you do in order for the business to
duplicate. Keep it simple. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
For true residual income and walk-away security, you must follow a step-by-step
duplicatable system, and EVERYTHING you do must be able to be easily duplicated by
the next person. Your sponsorship line has learned what works and what doesnt. We
have created the Three in Three Path to Success and the Blast Off Action Plan based
on our experience. When you follow the system, youll have the resources of the entire
sponsorship line working for you. If you do your own thing and try to change the system,
you send a message to your people that its okay to change the system, and after that

happens a few times its no longer a system . . . its a mess. Keep the system sacred.

3. ATTEND ALL EVENTS. Woody Allen once said

Eighty percent of success is just showing up. He was
absolutely right. The people who make the most money
in our industry are the people who regularly attend and
give events. Obviously, its important to attend an
event if you have a guest coming, BUT there are other
equally important reasons to attend all events.
a. You LEARN at events. You learn what to say and how to say it. You learn more
about the company and the products. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
b. Your BELIEF in the product and opportunity increases. This makes you a more
effective distributor because others will feel the level of your belief and
enthusiasm when you share the same information with them.
c. You have the chance to ASSOCIATE with and be REINFORCED by like-minded
people who are also pursuing their goals and succeeding. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
d. Finally, and VERY IMPORTANTLY, you SUPPORT the efforts of others who DO
have guests at the meeting (even if you dont that week). Lets face it: its a lot
more impressive to come to a meeting attended by a large group of people. If
you bring someone to a sparsely attended meeting it is hard to convey the idea
that this is an exciting and lucrative business. So, stay on track and create a
culture in your group that we attend meetings. If you hope that the meeting
will be well attended when you bring a guest, BE THERE even if you dont have
one. Remember, you are not only building a team . . . you are part of a team. So
be a team player. Show your support for the efforts of others, and they will
support your efforts in return.

Some people think that opportunity meetings are no longer necessary. They think that the
internet can replace them. SORRY. Here is the truth: Every single company that has
experienced and sustained explosive growth has done it with opportunity meetings. It is a
fantasy to think that you can grow a significant network marketing business in your pajamas
while staring at a computer screen. People are social beings who seek meaningful
relationships with others. This is a business built on relationships. The energy and validation

that live meetings generate and the relationships they create are powerful. Staying on
track means that when there is a meeting in your area, YOU are there.
If you happen to live in an area where the company doesnt have a significant presence yet,
perhaps there wont be any regular live meetings in your town. In that case, your goal
should be to start organizing them yourself as soon as possible while your team grows. Yes,
it takes effort. But what worthwhile pursuit in life doesnt?
Major functions such as the international convention and regional trainings are the other
events that you should DEFINITELY plan for. It is sometimes hard for a new distributor to
understand how important it is to attend these events. They may think, Ill go next year
when my team is bigger. You will get the most resistance from your team about attending
these major functions because there is a cost attached, and they may be reluctant to spend
money on travel and admission tickets. But these are life-changing events. The skill sets and
principles they learn there, as well as the greater belief and confidence they develop as a
result of attending will dramatically increase their incomes. It will cut years off their learning
curves. So is it worth it? YOU BET. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

4. LEARN ALL YOU CAN ABOUT THE PROFESSION

OF NETWORK MARKETING. To stay on track youll
need to understand that Network Marketing is a distinct
industry and very different than traditional business.
Some of the things that are effective in other business
models dont work well at all in Network Marketing. This
is ESPECIALLY true if you have spent your life in the field
of sales. In that case, prepare to forget everything you think you know! The key: be
coachable. Put your ego aside and understand that you are learning something NEW.
Your sponsorship line has learned what works in the industry in general and in our
company in particular. They will teach you everything they know FOR FREE. In addition,
learn all you can about Network Marketing in general. There are wonderful generic
books and CDs on the subject. Here are several that we recommend: SSSSSSSS
a. Building Your Network Marketing Business, by Jim Rohn
b. How to Build a Network Marketing Money Machine The Science of Network
Marketing- Fourth Edition, by Randy Gage
c. Making the First Circle Work, by Randy Gage
d. Beach Money, by Jordan Adler

e. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Network Marketing Professionals, by Stephen R.

Covey
f. Owning Yourself, by Paula Pritchard

5. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY / BE ACCOUNTABLE.

Staying on track means that you take responsibility for
your business and your results. You can either have good
results or excuses . . . but you cant have both. When
you look at yourself in the mirror in the morning, realize
that you are looking at the boss, the person who is in
charge. Understand that If it is to be, its up to me. At
the end of each day, ask yourself Would I be happy if
EVERYONE in my organization did exactly what I did
today? Lead by example. People will pay MUCH MORE
attention to what you DO than to what you say. They will duplicate what you DO. If you
want your team to sponsor more people, go out and sponsor more people YOURSELF.
People may join your business because they are excited about a product and an
opportunity but they will STAY in your organization because of strong relationships.
Network Marketing is a business built on relationships. Staying on track means that
you build and maintain strong relationships with your team.
TRUST is the key. To earn your teams trust you must always tell the truth. If you commit
to be somewhere at a certain time, be there. If you promise to do a three way call with
someone, do it . . . on time. Follow through. If there is an admission fee for a meeting,
pay it; never sneak in. When you write a check make sure it will clear. If there is a
promotional display with 10 products and 5 packets of pamphlets on it at the beginning
of the meeting, there should be 10 products and 5 packets of pamphlets on it at the
END of the evening. Never take anything that isnt yours.
Dont compete with your own downline. If you and a downline member both have a
strong relationship with the same prospect, staying on track means that you help the
downline member sponsor that prospect. By allowing your downline team member to
sponsor the prospect (instead of sponsoring them directly yourself) you demonstrate
leadership and cooperation. You BOTH benefit from the new person entering the
business and you have contributed to a relationship of trust with your downline team
member. Never try to recruit someone elses prospect or attempt to steal distributors

from another line. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

If someone from another town, state . . . or even another country sends a prospect to
your meeting, NEVER try to persuade that prospect to sign with you instead. One of the
silliest phrases a Network Marketer could ever utter to a prospect is You really should
be sponsored locally so that we can support you. Think about that. What that implies is
that you can only build and be supported in your local area. In that case, you could
never build an international business . . . since you have established that everyone
needs to be sponsored and supported locally! SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
People who stay on track are ethical, accountable and take responsibility for their
businesses, relationships, and actions.

6. ALWAYS EDIFY. Staying on track means that

you use edification as a powerful tool. Its smart to
consistently edify your sponsorship line, your leaders
the company and the profession of Network Marketing.
Edify means to build up. That doesnt mean that
you make up untrue stories. It simply means that you
point out the successes and accomplishments of the
people with whom you work and you NEVER criticize
them or put them down in front of others.
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Many times, fairly or unfairly, your family and friends will find it easier to accept
powerful new concepts from a third party expert instead of you. Its simply human
nature; you arent a prophet in your own country. If you have properly edified your
upline team by pointing out their achievements and the fact that they are successful,
your close friends and family will be more open to hear the message FROM THEM, until
you have your own success stories to tell. Edifying your sponsor, upline team of leaders
and the company makes them more effective at doing their job when you ask them to
speak directly with your prospects or train your team members. Conversely, if you
criticize your upline leaders in front of your prospects or team members, you render the
leaders ineffective in any efforts to help you. Why should your prospects or team
members respect them if you have made it clear that you dont?
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Edification is equally important when you are supporting the efforts of other
distributors on your team. If a team member asks you, as their leader, to help talk to a
prospect on their behalf, always take the opportunity to edify the distributor. At some
point in your discussion you might say something like Bob, you simply couldnt have
found a better person to work with than Mary! She really knows her stuff! She is
dedicated, works hard and really supports her team! This helps the prospect know that
they would be making a smart choice of sponsors. It makes the distributor look good
because they have the respect of someone who is successful in the business. Thus, the
prospect is more likely to respect what they say. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
7. ESTABLISH A DAILY AND WEEKLY EXPOSURE
GOAL AND LIVE BY IT! If you dont, your business will
die by it! ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
There are precisely TWO revenue producing activities in
our business: showing the product . . . and showing the
business. Staying on track means you understand that
you CAN control how many times you show the product and show the business each day
and each week, but also that you absolutely CANT control how anybody responds. So
just relax about it! Maybe they wont respond well because they just fought with their
spouse or boss. Thats not your fault. They might be distracted by any number of things.
Thats not your fault either. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Happily, the study of statistics is a science. It is simply a statistical fact that if you expose
the business to enough people, you will unavoidably find the right people who are
looking for what you have to offer. So dont measure your daily success by how many
yess you get, but by how many exposure you did! Just stay in the process and learn to
love it. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Remember, you need people, but you dont need any PARTICULAR people. Dont make
the beginners mistake of thinking up a small list of 5 five people who would, in your
opinion, be just perfect for the business. If all five told you no youd be really
discouraged! Just commit to exposing the business to a certain number of people every
day, five days a week and stick to it . . . religiously. If you commit to two exposures a
day, that would be ten exposure in five days. Understand that exposures are not
always complete presentations. Handing someone a CD or company magazine and
setting up a time to follow up with them is an exposure. Phoning someone and sending
a follow up email with information and a company video is an exposure. Just make the

exposure number high enough to get the results you want in the time you desire.
SSSSSSSSSSSS
One fun and effective way to monitor the progress of your daily exposure goal is to
place the same number of pennies in your right pocket as the number of exposures to
which you have committed on a daily basis. As you go about your day, move one penny
from your right pocket to your left each time you expose the business. When your right
pocket is emptied of all pennies, you are done! SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
8. WORK ON YOURSELF DAILY. Staying on track
means that you dedicate some time each day to selfdevelopment. Your business will grow in direct
proportion to how much YOU grow. In Network
Marketing you grow yourself and your people and the
business grows as a matter of course. SSSSSSSSSSSSSS
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Set aside a specific time each day to read, meditate, exercise, pray or listen to inspiring
and educational CDs and DVDs. Create a space in your day to develop you mind, body
and spirit. When you create more balance and progress in these areas of your life, you
will create the same balance and progress in your business! Its a great idea to start your
day with these activities because it will set the tone for your entire day.
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
As your business grows, the knowledge and skills needed to effectively lead your team
will shift and youll have to develop new skills. At first youll need to learn the skills of
creating a list of prospects, meeting new people to expand your contact pool, and
inviting prospects to look at material or attend a meeting. As your business becomes
larger, youll need to develop presentation and follow-up skills. Finally, youll need to
learn how to lead, inspire and train others. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Invest in inspirational audio books and turn your car and your iPod into mobile selfimprovement libraries. Be proactive about putting the good stuff in and keeping
negative programming out! Never end your day by watching the late night news.
Instead, listen to or read something educational or inspiring. S

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

9. ALWAYS DO THE RIGHT THING. If something

doesnt seem or feel right . . . dont do it. Be ethical. Its
really not hard to know the right thing to do. Stay within
the policies and procedures of the company. Respect the
time and efforts of other people. There WILL be times
when youll be tested. Someone from another group might
approach you and want to jump to your line. Maybe
someone elses prospect will show an interest in having
you sponsor them instead. ALWAYS ask yourself, Would I feel good if someone did this
to ME? Honestly answer that question and you will stay on track.
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
You are asking people to follow you and to invest their dreams and aspirations with you.
Honor that. Be trustworthy, keep your word, do the right thing and they will follow you.
Break that trust and they wont. Its really that simple. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Practice all 9 of these success track principles and you will be an effective professional
Network Marketer. If you truly want to build a business that grows quickly as others
duplicate your efforts, it is EXTREMELY important that you stay on track. That means
practicing ALL 9 of the principles, not just the ones that seem comfortable. In doing so,
you will achieve much greater success. Skip one or another, and you will find yourself
stagnating. So be a leader. Set the pace by staying on track yourself and creating an
on track culture in your team!
