Glogster Lesson Plan

The lesson plan aims to teach students the scientific method and how to present information using technology like Glogster. Students will complete a Glogster poster showing their understanding of the scientific method by applying it to design an experiment to test a hypothesis, analyze results, and draw a conclusion. Special needs students will be paired with others and all students will be given class time to complete the project. The lesson introduces the topic through a PowerPoint and example experiment. Students will then practice applying the scientific method on their own experiments and assessments will include a rubric for the Glogster poster.

the natural world and its connection to technological systems.

S11.A.3.2 Compare observations of the real world to observations of a constructed

model. Lesson
Objective(s)
(Stated in observable and measurable terms)

To learn and apply the scientific method when confronted with a problem. To learn
additional ways to present information utilizing available technology.

Assessment Plan
(What will be done to determine if lesson objectives have been met?)

Students will complete a glogster poster showing the understanding of the scientific
method. There will also be a rubric used to grade the understanding of the material.

Materials:

Computer, coin, powerpoint presentation

Inclusion Techniques for Students with Special Needs:

Special needs students will be paired with other students in the classroom to
facilitate their ability to complete the project.

Enrichment Techniques:

For enrichment purposes in this lesson, those students who have a higher level of understanding
will be given the assignment of working with the special needs students to help facilitate the
assignment.
Lesson Differentiation (What modifications/accommodations will be made to ensure that ALL students
have access to and are able to participate in the lesson):

Each student will be given ample time to complete the assignment in question. There
will also be class time used for the completion of the project to allow use of the computer
lab.

Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set:

Introduce the lesson with an experiment and questions. An example of an

experiment along with a glogster poster will be made available for an example.

Detailed Teaching Sequence:

(Provide sufficient detail that would enable a substitute to effectively present this lesson. Bulleted
statements are preferred)

• Introduce the material via powerpoint presentation

• Give example of how to apply the scientific method to an experiment
 Show example of coin flip experiement

Guided Practice/Independent Practice/Assessment Activities

Students will utilize the scientific method to create a hypothesis and create an
experiment to test the hypothesis, analyze the results, and write a conclusion to
their original hypothesis.
