Hydrogen Energy How It Works Benefit of Hydrogen Energy

Hydrogen has potential as a clean energy source but faces challenges. It is the most abundant element on Earth found in water. Extracting hydrogen requires energy and makes it expensive currently. Hydrogen can power homes, vehicles, and rockets without emissions besides water. However, fossil fuels are still needed to extract it and the technology is still developing to utilize it on a large scale.

Hydrogen Energy

Hydrogen is the most abundant element available on earth but it is rarely alone. Even water contains two
third of hydrogen. It is usually available with other elements and have to separated before we can make
use of it. Hydrogen has tremendous potential and can be used to power up homes, vehicles and even
space rockets. It takes a lot of energy to separate hydrogen from other elements and therefore it proves to
quite expensive to extract it. Take a close look at hydrogen energy and see how it works.
The main benefit of hydrogen energy is that it is clean source of fuel and does not leave any waste
elements behind except water. There are no harmful emissions and is environment friendly. It is
completely renewable and can be produced over and over again on demand. Hydrogen can also be used
to make bombs like the ones used by America on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which makes it highly
inflammable. Dependency on fossil fuels still remains as we need them to extract hydrogen from other
elements. Also, it is quite expensive to produce and store.
These are some of the alternative energy sources that can be taken into consideration when planning
your energy production and usage. You can harness any of these and you will satisfy your power needs
Alternative Forms of Energy / Hydrogren
As many of you may know, hydrogen comes from water (which is two-thirds hydrogen and one-third
oxygen). Electric current is passed through water to separate hydrogen from oxygen. The resulting gas,
Hydrogen, is then stored in pressurized tanks.Hydrogen Alternative Energy has shown promising results
recently. And it has been particularly successful in the car industry. In these cars, the fuel cell system is

used which converts hydrogen into electricity. Hydrogen as fuel is eco-friendly and much more safe than
gasoline.
Hydrogen Energy
Hydrogen is the most common element on earth as it is available with water and 70% of the earth is
covered with water. Once hydrogen is separated from water, it can be used to generate electricity.
Hydrogen is completely renewable as it is extracted from water and is available in abundant
supply.Hydrogen energy, when burnt does not leave any toxic gases in the atmosphere. The downside of
using this alternate source of energy is that the technology is still in its early stage and it will take a long
time before it can be used on a wide scale.
What is Alternative Energy? Alternative energy is power that comes from sources which are not going
to run out, do not pollute as much as fossil fuels (oil, coal, natural gas), or do not create leftover materials
that are harmful to people and the environment.
The term, "alternative," in a sense, is meant to contrast environment friendly energy against forms of
energy that hurt the environment (coal power, natural gas, and oil power). Other names for alternative
energy include clean energy, green energy and renewable energy.
Alternative energy fuels can help reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions produced from traditional
gasoline or diesel fuels. Using alternative energy fuels means that you might have to change your
conventional vehicle in for a more environmentally-friendly ride. Is this true? Let's find out.

Alternative Energy Fuels - Fuel Cells and Hydrogen
If you are using a portable or a stationary power device, then fuel cells might be the ideal option for you.
Electricity is generated in fuel cells electrochemically when hydrogen and oxygen are combined. Fuel
Cells can produce zero or very low emissions depending on the source of the hydrogen. These energyconversion devices can also utilize hydrogen and other fuels and, in the future, might be used for
transportation applications. This alternative energy fuel source is also an option for vehicles and
prototypes for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles that are currently in the works. But, unfortunately, barriers exist.
A lack of a hydrogen distribution infrastructure has made it difficult for this alternative energy fuel source
to move ahead. Also, costs are high for fuel cells and hydrogen-production technologies and there are
challenges related to hydrogen storage. However, fuel cells are a viable energy technology that can offer
significant environmental, supply, economic and energy efficiency benefits because of the variety of fuels
available for conversion to hydrogen.
