Lydia, The First European Convert

1) Lydia was the first recorded European convert to Christianity after hearing Paul preach in Philippi. 2) Providence worked to bring both Lydia and Paul to Philippi at the same time so they could meet - Lydia was a seller of purple goods in Thyatira who had come to sell her wares in Philippi, while Paul was prevented from preaching elsewhere and received a vision calling him to Macedonia. 3) The sermon explores how providence, Lydia's openness, Paul's preaching, and the Holy Spirit's work all cooperated in Lydia's conversion.
