An Act to fii the salary and allotvances of the Speakcr
of ibe Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

Preamble.--WHEREAS

it i s expedient to fix

the salary

and

allolvances of the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in the


manner hereinafter appearing ;

It is hereby enacted in the Fifteenth Year of the Republic of India as

Salary of the Speaker.-2.


There shall be paid to the Speaker of the
Nagaland Legislative Assembly a salary of rupees one thousand per mensen.

( I ) The Sp2aker shall be providcd


with free furnished residence with grounds appurtenant thereto, in Kohima
throughout the year, and also at any other place which the state Govkrnmcnt
may, from time to time, for rhe purpose of this Act declare to be the
headquarters of Government, for so long as such declaration remains in
force or at a place where the Nagaland Legislative Assembly meets.
Residence of the Speakel-.-3.

( 2 ) Such residence and the grounds appurtenant thereto, shill be


maintained at the public expense which shall not exceed the amount

Provided tbat if the Speaker does not occupy the fr& furnished residence provided by ,the Government, a house rent allowance at the rate of

rupees two hundred and fifty per mensem and such service allowances as may
bs prescribed by rules shall be paid, in lieu of such residence.

Explanation.

Conveyance and conveyance, aIlowa,ncefor the Speaker.--4. (1) The


State Governm'ent may, from time to time, purchase and provide suitable
conveyance for the use of the Speaker and may, by rules, provide ior' their

maintenance and repair.

(2) The Speaker shall further be ehtitlcd to a convcyancc aIlawancz


of rupees two hundred and fifry per mensem :

AMlENDMENT OF SECTION 4,
Sub-section (2) of Sec~ion4 of the Principal Act shall be deleted.

dated 22nd Sept. 1999.1

An Act further to amend the Nagaland Speaker's salalies and

al lowmces Act, 1964.


Whereas it is expedient to amend the Nagnland Speaker's sala-

ries and Allowances Act, 1964 (Nagaland Acl. No. 5 of 1964) in the
manner here under appearing :

It is hereby enacted in the fiftie~hyear of the Republic of India as

follows :

(i)

This Act may be called the NAGALAND SPEAKER'S


SALAIUES AND ALLOWANCES (AMENDMEW ACT,
1999.

(ii)

It shall come into force on such dare as the state Government


may by notification in official gazelte appoint.

AMENDMENT OF SECTION 2
Sec~ion2 of the Nugaland Spcaker's salaries and allowances act
1964 (Napland Act. No. 4 of 1964), shall be substituted by the
following as hereunder :

There shall be paid to the Speakcr of the Nagaland Legislative


Assembly a salary of rupees nine thousand per Menscn.

AMENDMENT OF SECTION 4
Sub-seclion (2) of section 4 of [he Principal ACLshall be dcleied.

Section 9 of the Principal Act shaIl be substituted by the following


as hereunder :
Thc Speaker shall be entirlcd to an entertainmentallowance ofru-
