Interests
Enthusiastic a.o. in squash, the city of Amsterdam (e.g. movies, theatre, dance,
concerts), music (visit festivals and concerts), photography and travelling (I am
passionate and creative in organizing city trips with friends once in the 1,5 year.
Last year we had our 13th edition to Istanbul. Besides I initiate once in the 3-4 years
real adventurous trips (self-organized (jungle) tour in south Suriname, Ladakh,
Laos/Myanmar, Dog sledge trip, etc). Official referee at hockey junior.

Personal key activities & responsibilities: budget (mln 2.5), planning & resources,
project management and participation in global projects, priority setting (when needed in
discussion with stakeholders), implementation of corporate directives, continues improvement,
HSE issues (leading 5S, BBS), people management and team building.
Vilvoorde (Belgium) with 5 employees, including 2 direct reports and the other located at
Sassenheim with 12 employees, including 2 direct reports. Next to this, I fulfilled the R&D country
coordination role for the total R&D community (laboratories on BA and BU level) in the
Netherlands as well as Belgium regarding common R&D issues, including responsibility for
implementing corporate directives.
2007/01 2009/12:
Local Technical Manager Netherlands
Responsible for the technical support laboratory in the Netherlands, supporting marketing,
production and development laboratories within the Business Unit Decorative Coatings.
The supporting group consisted of Application, System Evaluation and Color support. The
Group leaders of the development laboratories solvent borne products and Concrete,
Wood fillers & Metal reported hierarchically to me and functionally to the department
managers. Next to this I fulfilled a R&D country coordination role for the total R&D
community in the Netherlands (laboratories on BA and BU level) regarding common R&D
issues and I was key-contact for the multi-BU location Sassenheim.
2000/01 2006/12:
Laboratory Manager Decorative & DIY - Technical Support
Responsible for the technical support laboratory in the Netherlands within the Business
Unit Decorative Coatings. The laboratory consisted of Application, System Evaluation and
Microbiology. Activities & responsibilities: supporting marketing, production and
development laboratories, outdoor durability investigation, product monitoring, competitor
investigation, testing biocides for coating and in-can preservation, application evaluation.
I maintained contacts with marketing (trade, retail and joinery), production, international
research departments and external institutes.

Group leader of 7 direct reports, working for an innovative research laboratory of the
Business Units Aerospace, Car Refinishes, Industrial Products and Deco working on
waterborne coating concepts based on waterborne binder technology. Joint ventures with
international laboratories and binder suppliers were part of collaborations. I was
responsible for delivering paint concepts for the development laboratories in time and
within budget.

See for the activities Research Chemist. Next to this I managed a small group and was
responsible for research projects concerning solvent based paints for the Trade and
Retail market (decorative paints), this in close cooperation with other research
laboratories (internal and external). I was responsible for delivering paint concepts for the
development laboratories in time and within budget.

I started working in the innovative research laboratory on wood protection and durable translucent
coatings. My deliverables were new paint concepts within prescribed
framework.
