NOTE: If a greater hazard exists and an employee can demonstrate that wearing the impact protective gloves
would create a greater hazard to the employee, then an alternative form of hand protection may be provided
for the application (i.e., In the field, Operators performing hydraulic jack/snubbing operations.) Gloves should
not be used around rotating machinery where the glove, if caught, would cause an injury.
Intended Use for Impact Protective Gloves
No single glove will protect against all exposures. Gloves are subject to physical wear and tear, and will
degrade over time. While impact protective gloves offer good protection from abrasions and impacts to the
hand, they will not provide protection from chemical absorption through the skin, or electrical shock.
Therefore, it is important to select the proper glove for the job (i.e., nitrile gloves see figure 3 for chemical
exposures refer to chemical MSDS for recommended PPE).
