Reciprocating Natural Gas Compressors PDF

This document summarizes information about reciprocating natural gas compressors. It discusses: - Reciprocating compressors are used to compress natural gas in pipelines and for other industrial applications requiring medium to high pressures. - Compressor systems include a crankcase lubricated with natural gas or diesel engine oil, and cylinders/rods lubricated separately with special cylinder oils. - Cylinder oils are formulated to resist being washed away by gas and require heavier viscosities for higher pressures or solvent gases. Polyglycol oils are needed for very high pressures over 4,000 psi. - Determining optimal oil injection rates is important but inexact, requiring testing and adjustment based on conditions. Formulas
