Introduction
This chapter describes the various features of the AOLT-4000 Command Line Interface (CLI).
The CLI can be used to control and configure AOLT-4000 software operation. The CLI is
described in general terms, followed by the actual CLI commands.
Direct connection to the USB port on the CTL card faceplate with a PC running terminal
emulation.
The basic settings that are mandatory for terminal emulation software are listed in Table 1
as shown below.

slot <slot-id> , where slot-id is 3 or 15, connects to the SWT card of the specified
slot.
slot <slot-id> , where slot-id is 4 through 13, connects to the GLCP card of the
specified slot.
NOTE: You can use the slot commands listed above to view the current parameters
of the cards. However, to actually configure the cards, you must use the configure
swt command (Table 3 on page 22) or configure glc <glc-slot-id>
command (Table 3 on page 22). Also note that those who administer the AOLT-4000
MUST make sure that GLCP port 5 and 6 are identically configured. The system will
not provide the same performance in the event of an SWT switchover if these ports are
not configured identically.

Notes . . .
a. When configured in the Configure SWT mode, the configuration is pushed to the active SWT card and to the standby SWT
card if necessary. The configuration is stored in the CTL card database.
b. When configured in the Configure GLCP mode, the configuration is pushed to the respective GLCP slots. The configuration
is stored in the CTL card database.
NOTE: The prompt string may vary based on the slot number, state, and type of card
<swt-port> refers to the specified port on the SWT card. The range is 1 to 20 (10 on the
faceplate for uplink port connections and 10 on the backplane for GLCP port
connections).
22
<glc-slot-id> refers to the specified GLCP slot number. The range is 4 to 13.
<glc-port> refers to the specified GLCP port. The range is from 1 to 6. Ports 1-4 are on
the faceplate and ports 5-6 go to the two SWT cards.
<slot-id> refers to the slot index. The range is 1 to 16 (where 2 and 14 are invalid).
The CLI commands modes that are used to control the CTL card are diagrammed in Figure 1
on page 23. For details of each command, see Chapter 2, CLI Command Tables.

Use the configure glc <glc-slot-id> command (Table 3 on page 22) to actually
configure the GLCP card. The example in the table is for slot 5. Note that those who
administer the AOLT-4000 MUST make sure that GLCP port 5 and 6 are identically
configured. The system will not provide the same performance in the case of an SWT

CLI Features
The following features are available in the AOLT-4000 CLI:
28
?: provides the list of commands and command options in the current mode.
List command: provides the list of commands supported in the current mode.
Commands prefixed with no negate the operation (this is not for all the commands).
A total of three CLI sessions is supported. One session is reserved for the RS232/USB
interface. Two other sessions can exist through Telnet.
At any point in time, only one session is allowed in the Configuration mode.
The prompt for the SWT and CTL cards shows whether the SWT or CTL card is active
(ACT) or standby (STB).

Default Settings
The CLI default settings are as follows:
Limitations
The CLI has the following limitations:

Detailed Description
In a Broadband FTTP access scenario, service providers may want to dynamically control, at
the network level, access to some multicast flows on a per user basis. One approach is to
provision the necessary conditional access information on the ANX (ONT and/or OLT) so the
ANX can perform the conditional access decisions autonomously. For this case, the system
should be provisioned with white lists so that the ANX can decide locally to honor a join or
not.
A whitelist provision on system decides the multicast flows that are allowed to be replicated to
that port. The system will replicate multicast flows provisioned in whitelist and other multicast
flows will be dropped.
This command allows you to display the IGMP white list group.

interface 1. If the received packets are more than 100, trigger event 1 and when the received
packets are less than 50, trigger event 2. As the start-up type is configured as "rising-falling",
every 25 seconds check for both rising and falling thresholds and the corresponding event is
triggerd, whichever occurs first. For example, assume that a falling threshold is met first, event
2 is triggered and when the next 25 secs are finished, it will check for the rising-threshold and
it will not generate the falling-event until the rising-threshold is triggered.

Detailed Description
The spanning tree implementation on the SWT card is based on Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol
(RSTP)/ IEEE 802.1w, which is defined to be backward-compatible with STP/IEEE 802.1D.
By monitoring the received RSTP or STP Bridge Protocol Data Units (BPDUs) on each of the
Bridge ports, the spanning tree implementation dynamically updates its mode of operation
RSTP or STPon a per-port basis.
This command is used to force the spanning tree implementation to behave in a particular
mode, regardless of the format of the received BPDUs.

interface 6. If the received packets are more than 100, trigger event 1 and when the received
packets are less than 50, trigger event 2. As the start-up type is configured as "rising-falling",
every 25 seconds check for both rising and falling thresholds and the corresponding event is
triggered, whichever occurs first. For example, assume that a falling threshold is met first,
event 2 is triggered and when the next 25 secs are finished, it will check for the risingthreshold and it will not generate the falling-event until the rising-threshold is triggered.
