All Over Math Card Game

All Over is a math card game for 2-4 players designed to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division skills. Players are dealt number cards 1-12 and take turns rolling dice and using the numbers to create a math problem, turning over the corresponding card. The advanced version uses 3 dice. The first player to turn over all their cards wins. The game can also be played with pencil and paper or in teams to make it a classroom activity helping students practice different math operations.

a game for 2 4 players
Equipment: Each player requires a set of number cards with the numbers from
1-12, 2 dice
Object of the Game: To be the first to turn over all 12 number cards
To Play: Each player places their number cards with the numbers from 1 -12,
face up in front of themselves.
Players take turns to roll 2 dice. They add, subtract, multiply or divide the 2
numbers. Then they take the card that corresponds to the number that they end
up with and turn it over.
For example: if a player throws 2 and 6, the player could turn over the card
8 (2+6=8),
4 (6-2=4),
12 (2x6=12)
or 3 (62=3).
Play continues with each player turning over 1 card on each turn when possible.
If a player cant turn over a card on their turn, the next player has a turn. The
winner is the first player to turn over all 12 of their cards.
Advanced Version: Play the game using 3 dice. In this game, players have to
create an equation that uses all 3 numbers on the dice, e.g. If a player throws 1,
4, 6 they could turn over the card for 11 (1+4+6=11)
2 (6-1x4=2)
3 (6-4+1=3)
10 (61+4=10) or other possibilities.

Ideas for Using this Game


This is a classic game that makes kids practice skills in addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division.
Younger students who arent ready for division and/or multiplication can still play as they
will use only addition and subtraction.
The 3 dice version gives practice at creating equations with mixed operations and
encourages creative thinking as children attempt to create equations that total a desired
number.
Card Game for 2 -4 Players
It can be played by 2 4 players using the cards provided. The instructions for the
game can be used to play this version.
Pencil and Paper Game
Alternatively this game can also be played as a Pencil and Paper game with players
listing the numbers from 1 -12 on a piece a paper and crossing off each number as they
create an equation with that answer.
Play this version as per the instructions but each player will have a piece of paper with
the numbers from 1 12 listed on it. As a player creates an equation, the answer for
this equation is crossed off. The first player to cross off all numbers from 1 12 will be
the winner.
Team Game for the Classroom
This can also be a game for the whole class. Divide the class into 4 6 teams and list
the numbers from 1 -12 on the board for each team. One person from each team rolls
the dice and the team creates an equation and then crosses off the answer for this
equation.
Continue with teams taking turns until one team has crossed off all of their numbers
from 1 -12.
