Handout #13 R

The document discusses how Jesus fulfilled the sanctuary services and sacrifices described in the Old Testament. It provides numerous examples from Exodus and other Old Testament books that describe the sanctuary and its furnishings like the lampstand and bread of presence. The document then shows passages from the New Testament gospels and epistles that illustrate how Jesus replaced these physical elements as the light, bread from heaven, and perfect sacrifice. Jesus fulfilled these types through his life, death, resurrection, and ongoing high priestly ministry.

“ #13. The Sanctuary ”

Exodus 25:8 (KJV) “And let them make me a Sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.

Isaiah 59:2 (KJV) 2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and
your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

John 1:14 (NASB) 14And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His
glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 2:19-22 (KJV) 19Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in
three days I will raise it up. 20Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in
building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21But he spoke of the temple of his body.
2
When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said
this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

Hebrews 10:4-7 (KJV, AMP) 4For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats
should take away sins. 5Hence, when He [Christ] entered into the world, He said,
Sacrifices and offerings You have not desired, but instead You have made ready a body
for Me [to offer]; 6In burnt offerings and sin offerings You have taken no delight. 7Then I
said, Behold, here I am, coming to do Your will, O God--[to fulfill] what is written of Me
in the volume of the Book.

John 3:17 (KJV) 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but
that the world through him might be saved.

Hebrews 10:9 (AMP) 9He then went on to say, Behold, [here] I am, coming to do Your
will. Thus He does away with and annuls the first (former) order [as a means of expiating
sin] so that He might inaugurate and establish the second (latter) order.

Exodus 29:38 (NASB) 38"Now this is what you shall offer on the altar: two one year old
lambs each day, continuously.

John 1:29 (NASB) 29The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, "Behold, the
Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Exodus 25:31 (NASB) 31"Then you shall make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand
and its base and its shaft are to be made of hammered work; its cups, its bulbs and its
flowers shall be of one piece with it.

Exodus 27:20,21 (NASB) 20"You shall charge the sons of Israel, that they bring you clear
oil of beaten olives for the light, to make a lamp burn continually. 21"In the tent of
meeting, outside the veil which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall keep it
in order from evening to morning before the LORD; it shall be a perpetual statute
throughout their generations for the sons of Israel.

John 8:12 (NASB) 12Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, "I am the Light of the
world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."

John 14:16 (NASB) 16"I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that
He may be with you forever;

Exodus 25:23, 30 (NASB) 23"You shall make a table of acacia wood, two cubits long and
one cubit wide and one and a half cubits high.
30
"You shall set the bread of the Presence on the table before Me at all times.

John 6:51 (NASB) 51"I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats
of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the
world is My flesh."

Exodus 25:17, 21-22 (NASB) 17"You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold, two and a
half cubits long and one and a half cubits wide.
21
"You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the
testimony which I will give to you. 22"There I will meet with you; and from above the
mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, I
will speak to you about all that I will give you in commandment for the sons of Israel.

Romans 3:24-25 (NASB) 24being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption
which is in Christ Jesus; 25whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood
through faith This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of
God He passed over the sins previously committed;

Romans 10:4 (NASB) 4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone
who believes.

Colossians 1:28; 2:10 (KJV) 28Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every
man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
10
And ye are complete in him (Christ), which is the head of all principality and power:

Romans 8:34 (NASB) 34who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes,
rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

Revelation 12:10 (NASB) 10Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the
salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ
have come, for the accuser of our brethren (Satan) has been thrown down, he who
accuses them before our God day and night.

Hebrews 2:14, 17, 18 (NASB) 14Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood,
He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render
powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
17
Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a
merciful and faithful high priest in tings pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the
sins of the people. 18For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He
is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

Hebrews 7:25-27 (NASB) 25Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw
near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. 26For it
was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from
sinners and exalted above the heavens; 27who does not need daily, like those high priests,
to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because
this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.
