Tiendesitas in Ugong, Pasig City: Ortigas & Company Limited Partnership Frontera Verde Ortigas Center Jeepneys
Tiendesitas is a collection of little stores, it is a new shopping enclave complex located along the
C-5 road Corner Eulogio Rodriguez, Jr. Avenue in Ugong, Pasig. It began its operations on
September 26, 2005 and was developed by Ortigas & Company Limited Partnership (OCLP).
Constructed at a cost of P200 million, Tiendesitas is a part of Frontera Verde, an interim 18.5
hectare Ortigas Center development project. The complex offers more than 300 parking slots,
and is served by jeepneyson C-5 and by buses which stop a short walk from the Tiendesitas gate.
kubo. The roof of each pavilion is covered with chemically treated Cogon grass, and is equipped
with sprinklers to avoid mishaps during fires.
Duyans or hammocks are scattered around the development to offer short breaks during shopping
trips. The Filipiniana inspiration extends to the comfort rooms: old kalesa wheels were
transformed into chandelier frames to light up these restrooms. Aside from hammocks and old
kalesa Tiendesitas provides a number of fans with cold mists that gives off a cool breeze in the
evening and good air circulation all throughout the day.
It showcases the Philippines best products from an art, antiques, furniture, handicrafts native
food, fashion pets, plants and novelty items. Tiendesitas has good approach because it has a
touch of Filipino culture and architecture that makes the customers reminisce Filipinos quality
of food, handy works and etc. Senior citizens often visit the antique shop filled with old money
from the Marcos regime where they can brought their curious grandchildren and tell tall tales
about the history.
According to the authors of the articles that caught my interest the preservation of natural
ecological balances must be a prime requirement in the creation of every design. The acoustic is
not that good because they used abundant materials found in the Philippines such as bamboo,
coco lumber, treated cogon grass, adobe for walls and in a modern manner it is constructed in
concrete with a touch of Filipino architecture, they did not let Filipino history to be left behind in
a way manner. Before they construct the pavilions they maintained ecological features of the site
such as they cut few trees, preservation of clean air that flows on walkways, and fertile land.
Tiendesitas Planning
One of the countrys premium destinations, Baguio also has the Philippines cleanest public
market located at Rajah Soliman Street, Baguio City which has become one of the citys
attractions as well. As many people know, Baguio supplies freshly picked fruits and vegetables to
the lowland areas. But coming from the supplier itself, prices are incredibly low, not to mention
there are several stalls to choose from which are Rice, Vegetables, Fruit, Flower, Dry and Wet
Markets, etc.
The city market occupies only 61,707 sq. meters. The said market were divided depending on its
section, yet well-organized to make their livelihood productive, where competition and economic
growth increases, but it is easy for the consumers to buy what they need. The market was also
cooperating garbage segregation to boost the progression of the city and adhere to the garbage
pick-up schedule being implemented by the city. In 2014, Baguio City implemented the Wasteto-Energy facility, where the wastes of the city converted into useful product which is gas that all
could benefit for it.
Architecturally, the outer part of the building was arcaded and other parts have canopies to
protect the users to rainy and sunny weather. The pathways inside the market are wide to ease the
circulation of the local community and for deliveries, stalls occupied by the vendors are
uniformly organized it depends on the products of the vendors are being sold. It seems the public
market applied natural daylighting strategy and at night they used common bulb light the
structural design served as the framing in such area is more attractive because of geometrical
patterns, but not only the aesthetic reason, it also strengthen the capability of the structure.
Pavements are only used to personalized the sidewalk to ensure the access of the people
especially PWDs.
