Client:: Server: Servers Are Generally Devices With Files and Databases Stored Inside

Client/server networks involve two types of computers - clients and servers. Clients are personal computers that connect to central servers to request and share resources. Servers are more powerful computers that store files and databases and fulfill clients' requests. This allows for resources to be shared across a network of connected computers in a secure, centralized manner. Peer-to-peer networks differ in that each computer shares directly with others as equals without a central server. Client/server is generally better for larger organizations due to security and manageability, while peer-to-peer may be sufficient for small home/business networks.

Client / Server Network is a system usually has two different sets of

computers. One is called client the other is called Server. It is the network
relationship between two computer programs that communicates with each other.
Initially the clients start the communication by sending service requests to the
servers. In short words we can define client server network is a system where a
computer named a server is used to provide resources when requested by
computers named clients.
Client: They are simply personal computer with network software
applications installed. One or more computers called clients connect to a central
computer named a server to share or use resources. The term "client" may also be
applied to computers or devices that run the client software or users that use the
client software. Each client computer must use an operating system that allows it to
be identified to participate in the network. There are many various types of client
devices that can be used to access Terminal Server environments Traditional
workstation computers, including standard Windows Personal computers and
Apple Macintosh computers. Mobile wireless devices, including dedicated wireless
devices and palm sized computers. Thin client devices, including devices such as
which are based on Windows CE, Windows XP Embedded, or Linux on-a-chip.
Examples: Web Browser, email clients.
Server: Servers are generally devices with files and databases stored inside
them, which includes many complex applications like as in web sites. They are
higher-powered central processors, larger disk drives and much more hard disk
memory when compared to the client systems. The server system will accomplish
the request of the client system by sharing/supplying resources with the clients
while on the other hand the client does not have any processing capabilities. These
client-server setups often happened over a network of computers. However, it can
also happen within a single computer too. Each Server computer must use an
operating system that allows it to be identified to participate in the network.
Examples: Web Servers, Mail Servers.

The information you have given about client server systems is very good. The P2P
network has no central server. Each workstation on the network shares its files
equally with the others. Where as in client/server network system there are
individual dedicated servers and clients in the network. P2P networks should be
installed in homes or in very small businesses where employees interact regularly,
however they are inexpensive to set up; moreover, they offer almost no security.
Conversely, client/server system can be as big as your business/individual
requirement. There are systems which support millions of users and offer elaborate
security measures. But, client/server networks can become very expensive to
install and maintain.
