• a main body in which you write the main subject(s) of the letter in detail, starting a new
pharagraph for each topic;
• a conclusion in which you write your closing remarks:
• an informal ending (for example, Lots of love/ Best wishes/etc. and your first name).

Hello Mark,
• a thank you to the person for their last letter, comments regarding their
news, etc.
I've just heard that you passed all your exams. Congratulations!
Well, I'd better go and do some work! Once again, well done!
Write soon.
In informal letters you usually talk about more then one topic.
• The rubric gives you information about the subject of the letter and often tells
you specific topics which you must write about.
• These topics will be discussed in the main body of the letter. You should
begin a new pharagraph for each topic.
Dear Kate,
This letter is to find out how you are and to catch up with a bit of my family news!!
How is life in Canada? I hear that it is very cold this time of year, so I hope that you are keeping
warm by bundling up and drinking the delicious cappuccino. I have so many fond memories of
during my last visit!
Life here is good. I am still studying as usual, but have taken up a new hobby karaoke singing.
I really love having a hobby which I can turn to after a long day of work, and I always make time
for it.
My family is doing well, and all succeeding in their respective jobs and family responsibilities.
We are planning a huge celebration for the holidays, and I really am looking forward to that time
of year. I so enjoy the lights, the festivities, taking time off from work and spending time with
those closest to me. What is new and or news with you? Are you still attending the guitar class?
I wish you and your family the very best for the festive season and hope this letter finds you
well.
Denis
