COURSE SYLLABUS

Course Title: Nouns, Verbs & Adjectives

Course Description: This course was constructed to teach first graders the
difference between nouns, verbs and adjectives. Students will learn about the
different parts of speech and will be able to identify and give examples of
each.

Course Learning Objectives:

Categorize nouns into person, place or thing
Identify verbs
Identify adjectives
Provide examples of nouns
Illustrate examples of verbs
Provide examples of adjectives

Course Activities: Students will be required to complete a variety of


activities, some will be completed online, while others will be completed and
turned in during class. Through these multi-media activities, students will be
introduced to and able to practice nouns, verbs and adjectives. Detailed
information and links to each activity will be displayed in the Modules below.

MODULE 1: Nouns Day 1


o Review the resources on nouns.

o Look around the room and locate at least 10 nouns. Take photos of
each noun with your iPad.
o The teacher will have a checklist to monitor student activity.
o Create an Animoto presentation using your iPad and the photos

MODULE 2: Verbs
o Listen and act along with the video to learn about verbs.

o Practice identifying nouns and verbs while playing this interactive

o Write a story about your favorite day. Your story should be at least
5 sentences long. When you are finished writing your story,
underline the verbs in the sentences.
o Turn in your work to the assignment folder in the classroom.

MODULE 3: Adjectives

o Click on the following link and play the adjectives game to practice
using adjectives.
o Choose 10 adjectives and draw a picture using those adjectives.
o Label the picture with the adjectives that you illustrated.
o Write a paragraph explaining your picture using selected
adjectives.
MODULE 4: Putting it all Together

o After completed, print the completed Madlibs and turn in printed
copy in the classroom folder for final assessment.

*Late assignments will be accepted with an automatic 10 point deduction
of final grade.
90 -100 points = A
80-89 = B
70-79 = C
< 70 = F
*A letter grade of C is required to pass this course.
