What Is Water ?

Water is a transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid made up of hydrogen and oxygen atoms. It exists in various forms on Earth like rivers, lakes, oceans and seas. Small bodies of water include brooks and coves, while larger ones are rivers, seas and the largest - oceans. Water quality is affected by both point sources like industrial discharge and non-point sources like acid rain. Maintaining water quality involves reducing pollution, afforestation, sustainable use and waste disposal. Water is essential to life, making up most of living beings and enabling key functions in humans, animals and plants.

WATER

What is water ?
Meaning of water
Based on dictionary,a transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid, a compound of
hydrogen and oxygen, H 2 O, freezing at 32F or 0C and boiling at 212F or 100C,
that in a more or less impure state constitutes rain, oceans, lakes, rivers, etc.: it
contains 11.188 percent hydrogen and 88.812 percent oxygen, by weight.
Scientifically,Water is a basic molecule made up of two hydrogen atoms and one
oxygen atom. When these three atoms come together, they form a strong bond that
is difficult to break. The strength of this bond keeps a water molecule together for
millions and even billons of years.

Bodies of water
Brook
The smallest body of water is the brook. Natural stream of water that is found
aboveground and is often called a creek as well.
River
A river is a larger body of water that flows aboveground, in a particular direction,
and usually has a large volume of water in it.
Cove
A lake or pond can also have a cove in it. A cove is a small sheltered area of
shoreline into which water flows and gathers. A cove that is rather large is called a
bay.
Sea
Moving up in size, a sea is a large body of water that is surrounded by land or
attached to another body of water.
Ocean
An ocean, which is the largest body of water on Earth, is generally thought of as
having no boundary

Problems quality
Water quality is affected by both point and non-point sources of pollution. These
include sewage discharge, discharge from industries, run-off from agricultural fields
and urban run-off.

Point source pollution results when the contaminants come from a single
location. Examples of point source pollution in the air, water and soil. For
example, Water. A company has a new tank. This tank is being treated with a
special chemical. After the tank is treated, the treatment chemicals are
drained into a stream that runs hear the building where the company is. The
chemicals are released directly into the stream water without being treated
or decontaminated to make them safe.

Non-point-source pollution results when contaminants are introduced into the

environment over a large, widespread area. For example, Water. Acid rain
from the air can enter the water cycle. The result is that it enters the
environment. The acid is harmful to fish and other creatures in fresh-water
lakes and streams.

Water quality is also affected by floods and droughts and can also arise from
lack of awareness and education among users.

The user need to be involved to maintain water quality and look at other aspects
like hygiene, environmental sanitation, storage and disposal cause they are critical
elements to maintain the quality of water resources.

Benefits
FOR HUMANS AND ANIMALS
It also helps in all major functions of the body like
circulation, excretion, absorption, nerve conduction, respiration, reproduction etc.
FOR PLANTS
Plants can make up their own food material especially Starch a form
of carbohydrate using water(from soil), Carbon-dioxide (from air) in the presence of
sunlight.
FOR OUR DAILY ACTIVITIES
Water is also used for cooking, washing, bathing, and cleaning dirt around the
house. Water is also used for industrial, agricultural, fire, recreation, transportation,
and others.

Conclusion
Water is so important to our life.Three-quarters of the human body consists of
water. Water quality also determines our lives
How do we keep the water quality ?

Minimize the use of chemical

afforestation or reforestation maximize

Use water as needed

Dont throw rubbish anywhere, especially in river or water flow

Prevent water pollution from domestic sewage, industrial and agricultural
