Acknowledgement

1. It is a great opportunity to express deep sense of gratitude to my


research supervisors Prof. Parimalendu Haldar and Dr. Dipak Kr.
Mandal for introducing me to this magnificent field of applied research
that actually inter-mingled the field of entomology and fish biology. I
am deeply indebted to them for their constant encouragement,
constructive criticism and valuable suggestions received throughout
the period of my research work. It is needless to say without their
illuminating guidance, my shortcomings would have been much more
obvious.

2. I am grateful to the former HOD of our department, Prof. P. Nath and


the present HOD Prof. S.K. Maitra, for providing laboratory, library
and other facilities.

the Dept. of Zoology, Visva Bharati for their constant encouragement
and suggestions through various class lectures during my college days,
that influenced me to explore the magnificent field of animal biology,
