J. & P. COATS BIG BALL BEST SIX CORD MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. A.104, Size 30: 2 balls of Ecru, or
CLARK'S BIG BALL MERCERIZED CROCHET, Art. B.34, Size 30: 2 balls of No. 61 Ecru.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 10.
Starting at center, ch 9. Join with sl st to form ring. 1st rnd: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, (ch 9, 3 dc in ring) 8 times; ch 9. Join to top of ch-3.
2nd rnd: Sl st in next 2 dc and in next 5 ch, ch 3, 2 dc in same ch as last sl st, (ch 5, 3 dc in next loop) 8 times; ch 5. Join. 3rd rnd:

Ch 3, * in next dc make dc, ch 3 and dc; dc in next dc, in next loop make dc, ch 5 and dc; dc in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join.
4th rnd: Ch 8, * skip 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc; in next ch-5 loop make dc, ch 5 and dc; dc in next 2 dc, ch 5. Repeat from * around. Join
to 3rd ch of ch-8. 5th rnd: Sl st in first 3 ch, ch 3, 2 dc in same ch as last sl st, * ch 3, skip 1 dc, dc in next 2 dc; in next loop make
dc, ch 5 and dc; dc in next 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc in center ch of next loop. Repeat from * around. Join. 6th rnd: Ch 3, * in next dc make
dc, ch 3 and dc; dc in next dc and in next sp, ch 3, skip 1 dc, dc in next 2 dc; in next loop make dc, ch 5 and dc; dc in next 2 dc, ch
3, dc in next sp and in next dc. Repeat from * around. Join. 7th rnd: Ch 3, dc in first dc, (ch 3, dc in next 3 dc) twice; * ch 3, 3 dc in
center ch of ch-5 loop, (ch 3, dc in next 3 dc) 4 times. Repeat from * around. Join. 8th rnd: Ch 3, dc in next dc, (ch 3, dc in next 3
dc) twice; * ch 4, dc in next 3 dc, ch 4, (dc in next 3 dc, ch 3) 3 times; dc in next 3 dc. Repeat from * around. Join. 9th rnd: Ch 3,
holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in next 3 dc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (cluster
made), * ch 3, dc in next sp and in next 2 dc, ch 5, skip 1 dc, dc in next dc; in next dc make dc, ch 6 and dc; dc in next dc, ch 5,
skip 1 dc, dc in next 2 dc and in next sp, ch 3, skip 1 dc, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in next 4 dc,
thread over and draw through all loops on hook (another cluster made). Repeat from * around. Join.
10th rnd: Sl st in first ch and in first sp, ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, * ch 7, 15 tr in next ch-6 loop, ch 7, skip 1 dc of next 3-dc group, dc in
next 2 dc and in next sp, ch 3, dc in next sp and in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around. Join. 11th rnd: Ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 7, (tr
in next tr, ch 1) 14 times; tr in next tr, ch 7, skip 1 dc, cluster in next 4 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with 2-dc cluster. Join. 12th
rnd: Sl st in first 3 ch and in first loop, ch 4, * (tr in next tr, ch 2) 14 times; tr in next tr, holding back on hook the last loop of each tr
make tr in next 2 loops, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (joint tr made). Repeat from * around, ending with tr in last
loop. Join. 13th rnd: Sl st in first tr, * (ch 15, sc in next tr) 13 times; ch 15; insert hook in next tr and pull up loop, skip joint tr, insert
hook in next tr and pull up loop, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (joint sc made). Repeat from * around, ending with
sc in last tr. Join to base of first ch-15. 14th rnd: Sl st in first 7 ch, turn, sl st in last loop of preceding rnd, turn, ch 3, dc in next loop,
* ch 5, long tr (5 times over hook) in same loop as last dc, (in next loop make long tr, ch 5 and long tr) 10 times; long tr in next loop,
ch 5; make 3-dc cluster having first dc in same loop as last long tr, 2nd dc through next 2 loops and 3rd dc in next loop. Repeat
from * around, ending with tr in same loop as last tr. Join with sl st to first tr.
15th rnd: Sl st in first 3 ch, ch 4, * 5 tr in each of next 10 loops, joint tr having 1 tr in each of next 2 loops. Repeat from * around,
ending with tr in last loop. Join. 16th rnd: * Ch 5, skip 2 tr, tr in next tr, (ch 1, skip 1 tr, tr in next tr, ch 1, tr in next tr, ch 1, skip 1 tr,
tr in next tr) 9 times; ch 5, sc in joint tr. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 5. Join to base of first ch-5. 17th rnd: Sl st in first 3
ch, sc in first loop, * (ch 5, sc in next ch-1 sp) 27 times; ch 5, sc in next 2 loops. Repeat from * around, ending with sc in last loop.
Join. 18th rnd: Sl st in first 2 ch, sc in first loop, * (ch 5, sc in next loop) 27 times; sc in next loop. Repeat from * around, ending
with sc in last loop. Join. 19th rnd: Work as for 18th rnd, repeating directions in parentheses 26 times (instead of 27 times). 20th
rnd: Sl st in first 2 ch, sc in first loop, ch 5, sc in last sc made, (sc in next loop, ch 5, sc in last sc made) 24 times; * sc in next loop,
(sc in next loop, ch 5, sc in last sc made) 25 times. Repeat from * around, ending with sc in last loop. Join and break off. Starch
lightly and press.
