EGI, DAY1

Sumeet Kumar Patnaik

Name:
Roll number: UEMF15029
EMBA 2015-2016

Today morning, dated 23rd may 2015, when I stepped into room
number CR164, It reminds me the very 1 st day of my
communication class during my 1stterm, where I was unable to
say a single sentence at the time of extempore due to stage
fright but during the journey of 1 year of MBA I have learned
and gained a lot of knowledge from my Professors & friends,
this journey of one year MBA was exciting and fun filled with lot
of learnings and experiences and it has helped me a lot to build
my personality and my confidence . I believe that no one
becomes a Big Shot by only attending a class of
Communication or Personality development, it depends on
yourself, how you learn, explore yourself and implement it upon
yourself to achieve what you want in your life. How your daily
learnings change into experience?
This is what I learned from the very 1 st session of today class,
that is David Kolbs experiential learning theory that works on a
four stage cycle of learning. Kolbs experiential learning style
represents by a four stage learning cycle in which the learner
touches all the bases. It starts with Concrete Experience where
a new experience of situation is encountered then Reflective
Observation i.e. observation of and reflection on that
experience which leads to Abstract Conceptualization i.e.
formation of abstract concepts and generalizations which are
then used to test hypothesis in future situations, resulting in
new experiences. And Effective learning only occurs when a
learner is able to to execute all four stages of the model. And
Learning essentially means Change in Attitude, Behaviour and
Concepts.
Then I learned about what are my strengths/ attributes that I
see myself today, how you deal with other people and how you
see yourself as other person, as I found out that my strengths
or my attributes are more towards feminine than masculine i.e.
like I am morecaring, responsible,loving,intimate,supportive

etc. so identify your strengths and How a Man/ woman is

expected to behave. I learned that a person develops some
characteristics with time, he/she is used to hide or put aside
some characteristics.
Then I learned about How much you are important for others
and how much others are important for you in your
lifeaftersharing myWow moments to the entire class, how
others become part of your happiness and contribute to my
wow moment. So you need to be good yourself first, then with
others. Happiness is temporary, all our small small wow
moments adds happiness in ourlife. Alsofrom todays class, the
life journey task I learned a lot about myself with the help of my
group members and also helped my group members to explore
their hidden self. I shared my some of my qualities to my group
members which were previously known only to me but by
sharing those things I got to know myself more and others too.
Then I learned about What are blocks in our mind? What is that
block that holds me back? I realized that my eyes and my
mouth are blocks for me, Fear of saying something wrong and
making eye contact are blocks in my mind that holds me
back. The blocks in our mind are nothing but weakness that pull
us back where we are about to take a step or decision. We need
to find out our weakness or blocks in our mind and try to
overcome it. The only way to free myself is to free myself.
And Last but not the least, never compare yourself with others
because every person has its own problems in life and we
should always give our best but at the end Destiny matters and
should try our best to create our own destiny.
