Teaching /taught post-graduate ( M.Sc. and M.Phil) and undergraduate (B.Sc. Hons) classes at
Punjab University (PU). Taught Ph.D, M.Sc and B.Sc courses at King Saud University (KSU),
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. KSU has an Am erican system with a B.Sc. awarded after 16 years, and
M.Sc after 18 years of education. Cour ses taught by me at Ph.D and M.Sc lev el at KSU were : Physics of Elementary Particles, Quantum Field Theory I and II, Gauge Theories, Mathematical
Physics, Quantum Mechanics II; courses taught at the B.Sc final year level: Quantum Mechanics.
Courses taught at M.Sc . and M.Phil level at PU: The Standard Model (M.Phil)
Quantum
Mechanics, Classical Mechanics, Mathematical Methods of Physics to M.Sc. (Ist year), and
Theoretical Particle Physics (I and II) to M.Sc (2nd year); Curr ently teaching Quantum Mechanics
to M.Sc part I students.

Ph.D students
1. Successfully co-supervised (with Prof. M. Sa leem) the Ph.D. thesis of Dr. M. Ali on
Hypercharge Exchange Reactions (supervisor Prof. Dr. M. Saleem) 1986.
2. Successfully supervised ( with Prof. S. Br andt) the Ph.D. thesis of Muneer Ahmad
Aspects of Hadronic Structure in the Final State Hadron production in Deeply Inelastic
Scattering (co-supervisor Prof. G. Kramer of Hamburg University) 2004.
CONTRIBUTION TO HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMEMNT
After becoming Chairman Physics Department in May 1995 I
initiated a program of grooming
talented students (through extra lectures and coaching) so that they could compete and win foreign
scholarships. Owing to my efforts PU Physics students have won about 40 fellowships
(worth 3 million US $ approx.) since 1999. This program was initiated well before GOP/HEC
launched its current manpower training programs. Not a single penny of the GOP/HEC has
been spent in this regard as these scholarships are funded by Western institutions. I was
able to transform the culture of PU Physics Department during my tenure. I never allowed
political student groups, including the most powerful one, to operate in my Department.
Good students, and not the stereotyped politically motivated student leaders, became role
models in the Physics Department duri ng my tenure. Prof. T. Bolton of Kansas State University
referred to me as a gold mine of graduate students.
