1) The document outlines an ASSURE model for teaching a 10th grade chemistry lesson on chemical reactions.
2) It involves analyzing students' learning styles and abilities, outlining state standards on writing and balancing chemical equations and differentiating reaction types.
3) The lesson plan involves students working in groups to state the law of conservation of mass, classify reaction types, and perform an experiment in the lab to reinforce the concepts taught.

ASSURE MODEL WRITE UP
Name: Mustafa Dursun
Date:06/23/2015 Grade Levels: High School (10th Grades) Content Areas: Chemistry Topic: Chemical Reaction Assure Model Analyze Learners: I have mixed of 9th and 10th grades in my chemistry class. Generally they are 14,15 and 16 years olds. There are 24 students in the class; 13 male and 14 female. Their ethnicities are 9 of them White, 5 of them Hispanics, 4 of them African-American and 9 of them Asians. Their general abilities are be able to see, hear, smell, read, write, speak and understand. Their special abilities are be able to calculate, draw, sing and think scientifically. My students learning styles are visual, auditory, logical and mathematical. Some international students sometimes have difficulties in English. A few students are coming from low-income family. A few students have lacks in math and science basis. They are eager to discover to concepts in chemistry. State Standards and Objectives: According to Texas standards, the basic understandings are foundation concepts for 9th and 10th grade chemistry, (8) Science concepts. The student can quantify the changes that occur during chemical reactions. The student is expected to: 8D Use the law of conservation of mass to write and balance chemical equations (10) Science concepts. The student understands and can apply the factors that influence the behavior of solutions. The student is expected to: 10H Understand and differentiate among acid-base reactions, precipitation reactions, and oxidation-reduction reactions Select Strategies, Technology, Media, and Materials: I will use mostly studentcentered education method to in groups in order to teach better this topic and they will do experiment regarding to chemical reaction chapter. In half of the block, students will state the law of conservation of mass. They describe the law of conservation of mass it applies to all changes both physical and chemical. They differentiate
between the 5 types of chemical reactions and they classify observed
chemical reactions in the lab as synthesis, decomposition, single replacement, double replacement, or combustion reactions. In second of the block, Students will perform one experiment in the lab about the chapter they just learned in class. Utilize Technology, Media, and Materials: To increase the level of success in the classroom, teaching methods and techniques, tools and materials to be used effectively. I will prepare the papers to hand out. Before students come to class, the classroom should be clean and fresh. Seating for students should be able to see projector screen, board and teacher. I will show quick and safe chemical reaction demo to take their attention to class. Then, students will answer questions regarding to demo. Why do you think the reaction has released light and heat energy and give an example of similar reaction from daily life? Require Learner Participation: For participation of students, I will facilitate the students to do the experiment properly. After they used the objects that are provided before, I will use the technology and media such as computer and projector to reinforce students and enjoyment in the class for students. They will not take note constantly from to start to end of the course. They just need to write their observation down and answers about the virtual lab video and demo. The main purpose of the lesson will be learning. When students could learn and understand, they will like to Chemistry. Evaluate and Revise: At the end of the experiment, I will show them how to write a official lab report. I will share one lab report template with them. Last 3-5 minutes, students will take exit ticket about chemical reaction experiment lab to evaluate students whether they understood or did not. I will calculate what percentage of students learned. For unsuccessful students, I will work for their extra study. At the end of the course, if I see some problems with technological materials and tools, I will fix them. If they are not enough, I will bring better ones. I will analyze students homework and attention rates, undisciplined behaviors during the course season. Reflection: Chemistry is mostly difficult to comprehend the concept by lecturing so it requires doing hands-on activity or experimenting in groups. This model helps to learn chemistry objectives on their own path. When class is
performing an experiment in groups, I will be monitoring each group in their
workstations. I will be also askingquestions about experiment and I will be helping them if needed during experiment.
