Praxis Core Exam Analysis


Exam Requirements
Before I can take any education courses at UNLV, NSC, or UNR I must pass the
Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators Exam. That rule goes for all Nevada
education and early childhood education students. The passing scores for the Praxis Core
in Nevada for Math is 150, Reading is 156, and Writing is 162.
Exam Preparation
I have not yet taken the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators Exam.
However, I have taken the teachers test prep practice exam. I did not practice the
questions from ETS, I only skimmed over the questions really quick. To be completely
honest, I did not prepare for the practice Praxis Core exam.
Exam Results
In writing, I scored in the 93% range, which means that I am very likely to pass
the Writing section when I take the official Praxis Core Exam. In Reading, I scored in the
77% range, which means that I am borderline to passing the Reading section when I take
the official exam. In Math, I scored in the 62% range, which means that I need
improvement to pass the Math section of the official Praxis Core Exam.

Future Exam Preparation


To successfully prepare myself to pass the official Praxis Core exam, I plan to
purchase a study book and an online program to work through. I also plan to register for
the Praxis Core Review courses that are being offered at CSN and work with a tutor in
math.
