Queen Victoria

Queen Victoria was the Queen of the United Kingdom from 1837 until her death in 1901. She avoided a regency and became Queen when she turned 18 in 1837 and King William IV died. Her popularity suffered early in her reign due to a court intrigue involving one of her mother's ladies-in-waiting. However, she was very happy in her marriage to her husband Albert and wrote in her journal that being with him was the happiest day of her life.

Queen Victoria

Alexandrina Victoria (24 May 1819 22 January 1901) was the

Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837
until her death.
Victoria turned 18 on 24 May 1837, and a regency was avoided. On
20 June 1837, William IV died at the age of 71, and Victoria became Queen
of the United Kingdom. At the start of her reign Victoria was popular, but her
reputation suffered in an 1839 court intrigue when one of her mother's ladiesin-waiting, Lady Flora Hastings, developed an abdominal growth that was
widely rumoured to be an out-of-wedlock pregnancy by Sir John Conroy.
I NEVER, NEVER spent such an
evening!!! MY DEAREST DEAREST DEAR
Albert ... his excessive love & affection gave
me feelings of heavenly love & happiness I
never could have hoped to have felt before!
He clasped me in his arms, & we kissed each
other again & again! His beauty, his
sweetness & gentleness really how can I
ever be thankful enough to have such a
Husband! ... to be called by names of
tenderness, I have never yet heard used to
me before was bliss beyond belief! Oh!
This was the happiest day of my life!
