How The Amount of Water in 20 Oz Bottle Effects The Flight Distance Amount of Water Trial One Trial Two Trial Three 200 89 93 91

The document describes an experiment to test how the amount of water in the top bottle of a two-liter bottle rocket affects its flight distance. The experiment found that rockets with 200 ml of water in the top bottle flew farther on average (89 meters, 93 meters, 91 meters) compared to rockets with 100 ml of water, which supports the hypothesis that more water provides more thrust, but too much water reduces distance. Materials used included two-liter and 20 oz bottles, duct tape, cardboard wings, a launcher, water, and a measuring tool.

How does the amount of water in the top bottle effect the flight distance?

If there is more water, but not too much then it will fly farther because there is more thrust.

Same material for wings, same size rocket, same weather outside, same pressure, cap of top bottle will
be on

Duct tape, 2 liter bottle, 20 oz bottle, Cardboard, launcher, water, measuring tool

Build rocket: take a 2 liter bottle and take off the label. Take a 20 oz. bottle and duct tape it to the 2 liter
after taking off the label. Make sure that the non-cap ends are together. Measure out your wings, make
sure there are 4 of them and duct tape them onto the bottle rocket so far. Make sure your 20 oz. bottle
has a cap on it. Measure out 100 ml of water in the top bottle and 1000 ml in the bottom bottle. For this
variable we will be changing the water in the top bottle to 200 ml. Take pictures of Rockets as well as
videos, launch rocket, measure distance, change the variable, repeat

Conclusion – from our data I believe that 200 ml of water is just fairly good. It was mostly better than
the 100 ml of water. This somewhat supports our thesis because it was better than the 100 but worse
than anything more.
